discussion Do you skip through dialogue to get to the sex in games?

No, I "try" to follow the story but so many of these games just seem to drone on with dialog that has me speed clicking and skimming over it. I feel the vast majority of these games feature devs that are great with coding and 3d rendering but never took a creative writing class. I can forgive less than perfect visuals and the occasional error or glitch, but terrible writing is an almost instant recycle bin trip.

Depends if the writing seems too nonsensical and bland, I might end up scrapping the playthrough altogether.

I try to read all the dialogue. But I end up skipping if it starts getting repetitive.

ehh in the beginning when i first started on avns(Desert Stalker, Pale Carnations, BaDIK etc) i didnt, after a while you notice a lot of the avns that are out there in terms of story quality or writing isnt really all that, or the avn itself forgets its an avn and over narrates itself, i think the point for me is the context and the buildup to leads to the eroticsm, something you dont really get with porn with the typical "help im stuck step bro" or "i got your pizza with extra sausage" type tropes, or just straight up into fucking. If i have to skip ill just drop it all together, and the it also applies if the renders are so barebones and there arent enough of them to detail the scene. Everthing leading up to foreplay, till the release is huge in getting people to the mountaintop per say, otherwise wed just watch porn, rub one off, and be on our way.

Unfortunately, it seems that I do skip dialogue in more and more games these days. The ones that interest me enough to read everything seem to the exception, rather than the rule.

The great thing about renpy games is you can tab to skip. I use that to skim text so I can still follow along with what's happening but it doesn't take an hour to get through each scene.

If it's a game where Im actually interested in the gameplay/story then I'll pay attention, especially if its a game that lines up with a kink I like because I wanna know how we got to that kink in the story, otherwise if its just a nice looking game then im skipping through to the hot stuff.

I start skipping when the game starts getting too wordy. Sometimes I'll just read the first few words of each sentence to get an idea of what's going on. I start skipping when games are too long too.

not really for the most part i feel the interactivity/ story is the whole point of nsfw vns, aside from genres i don't particularly like the story i skip all dialogue (mainly ntr).

Honestly, I usually do, the storylines in these games often feel like a necessary evil to get to the content I'm actually there for, and after a while, the dialogue can start to feel repetitive or cliché, so I find myself skipping through it to get to the parts that interest me.

i find myself mashing through sex scenes more than the story. i don't do it too often, though, and i never mash through the story.

Visual novels usually yes as theres just too much dialogue (10-40hours worth)
