Do you prefer games with multiple choices that affect the story or a linear story where choices don't affect anything?

Definitely multiple choices. I really don't like anything too linear. I filter out kinetic novels when looking for games.

Choices that affect the story in a game, for me. For immersion and its give replayability.

I mainly prefer games to pick one or the other and stick to it, honestly. A game that doesn't have meaningful choices or just gives up asking your opinion after chapter one is kinda disappointing

I've had games where you had several options to choose from and the result is always the same. I don't think it's that great. If you already have several options to choose from then that should really have an effect in the game.

choices are good. i like to think a little what outcome my choice could result

Choices are important to making a game worth playing. Too many choices and the game never gets finished. I dont think we can have both but I want both

i like impact on choices, but i do prefer the game to have a replay system of some sort. that way you can atleast know if youve seen everything or not.

Multipath games. I mean, what's the point of having choices if they don't affect anything?

I generally like choices but every now and again I don't mind just being along for the ride, but only if they tell me up front.

If I am making choices throughout the game, there should be SOME effect on the story, even if it is minimal. As someone who has written quite a bit of branching story-line over the years, I totally understand how huge an endeavor it is to actually BRANCH a story, especially multiple times, since every branch you add that actually changes the story practically doubles the amount of writing you have left. BUT, that being said, I don't mind if, for example, the end basically stays the same, and what changes is the person, or persons, by your side at the end. Or if the main story stays consistent, but the choices add little side paths. But if you give me choices, I expect to see some sort of result for said choices.

You gotta have some agency. The fully linear ones aren't necessarily bad, they just miss that little extra something.

If there are multiple clear, distinct routes that actually have differences then choices are fine for me. If the choices are just different flavor text for the same outcome Ill pass. And if theres 77 different intertwining paths that are impossible to follow without a guide I'll pass.

without a doubt multiple choices or a branching story. really helps with the immersion and it feels like it's you who's playing the game.
Linear stories VN feel like watching a video/story about someone else

I don't mind choices if they exclude stuff I absolutely don't want.

It's also ok if they are used to tailor the story. LoML does this well by including things you chose earlier into later dialogue so the story becomes more personalized.

What I hate is the "Replay the game to explore all the outcomes"
No thank you, can't be arsed, where's the gallery unlock.

Both are okay for me but I prefer Linear MORE.

Too many choices can make it hard to see all the content. I understand choices when it comes to the money shot, of specific kinks, but beyond that, no thanx.
