Not so much as long as they're not a complete psychopath or a complete wimp that everyone pushes around.
You dont control the protagonists in movies or books, well except you wrote them yourself. Same goes for KN hence they are no games but digital picture books. But games are different, they are made to insert yourself, give you control over choices and (depending on the game) movements and development. You never get a "your protagonist died" screen when you messed up, you get a "you died" screen because they are meant to be played.I don't tend to self-insert, so the MC is like a stranger to me. I'm kind of a spectator of the story, like when you watch a TV show or read a book. So I don't have that problem.
Well, those decisions were already premeditated by the dev, so I don't really feel like I have full control over them. You just choose branches and see how it develops and the consequences "you have 3 options: if X then Y". That's why I don't like to self-insert, but rather see it more as an exploration of the creator's vision. It's fiction. But anyway that's your opinion, and yours its valid as well. You dont control the protagonists in movies or books, well except you wrote them yourself. I like making them rampaging sluts but I hate the ones that make her a victim. I always filter out "blackmail"I like female protagonist games, its fun to change perspective.
