Not so much as long as they're not a complete psychopath or a complete wimp that everyone pushes around.

What's the point in playing games if you don't get to be someone you're not IRL?

It can be a bit challenging for some players to step into the shoes of a protagonist who doesn’t align with their personal values or personality, especially if the choices or actions of that character feel foreign or uncomfortable. However, for others, it can be a unique experience that allows them to explore different perspectives and decision-making paths. It can add complexity to the narrative, making it more intriguing to navigate a character's growth or moral dilemmas. It really depends on how much you enjoy exploring different identities or how deeply you want to connect with the character’s journey.

Oh definitely, theres quite a few where the MC is a psychopath or just a total irredeemable asshole. I just insta delete.

I don't tend to self-insert, so the MC is like a stranger to me. I'm kind of a spectator of the story, like when you watch a TV show or read a book. So I don't have that problem.

You dont control the protagonists in movies or books, well except you wrote them yourself. Same goes for KN hence they are no games but digital picture books. But games are different, they are made to insert yourself, give you control over choices and (depending on the game) movements and development. You never get a "your protagonist died" screen when you messed up, you get a "you died" screen because they are meant to be played.

And that's the main reason I hate kinetic novels. If I didn't want input I'd just watch porn. It has better "graphics" and never wastes time on yakking - and it's easier to skip anything you dont like seeing (handjob, blowjob, non-creampie cumming...)

Well, those decisions were already premeditated by the dev, so I don't really feel like I have full control over them. You just choose branches and see how it develops and the consequences "you have 3 options: if X then Y". That's why I don't like to self-insert, but rather see it more as an exploration of the creator's vision. It's fiction. But anyway that's your opinion, and yours its valid as well.

I like female protagonist games, its fun to change perspective.
I like making them rampaging sluts but I hate the ones that make her a victim. I always filter out "blackmail"

I just dislike when a game or protagonist breaks suspension of disbelief. It has to be grounded for me to get into it. If the storyteller is talented enough and the story interesting, I can play just about any character to the end. A few stories that are intentionally manipulative do bother me a bit (like Malignant and Hi Emi) - especially if they have no way of avoiding tragic endings.

Well, I'm buff, very attractive, forever young and hung as a horse, so it's very easy for me to relate to the generic MC...;)

Erm, thats the same just with different IQs.
Not really, in one she chooses, in the other she gets blackmailed or otherwise forced.
