Do you even read story?

I read the story, even if it's not great. To me it feels like jumping episodes or chapters, and I'd rather not feel clueless when something is mentioned that should be common knowledge. I do skip already read text, because I only reread something if it's been like a year since the last update. I read fast, so even then it's not a big deal in the end.

I will slap the shit out of the space key to skip dialogue if it is with a character that I don't care about, or if they are giving exposition about a plot element I find annoying or irrelevant.

For example, say you're playing a Russian VN. You can almost guarantee it will have a storyline about a crime gang, having to plan and commit a robbery, or dealing with a conspiracy involving corrupt law enforcement. I will skip past that shit in a heartbeat because it is so boring and irrelevant.
If you're playing an American VN with a gamer-girl little sister you will have some plot about a gaming competition or even a international tournament. I'm skipping past that at light speed because it is irrelevant and cringe.
However, if it is about the LIs and the relationship between them and the protag I will read it.

It's funny for me.
I can easily read through massive walls of text for games like COC and TITS...
But hit me with quick back- and- forth dialogue with very short lines like in most VNs and I will skip all of that shit.

My willingness to read something seems to be inversely proportional to the amount of text that is on a single page.

Probably got something to do with ADD.

I only like story if it was engaging enough with good plot and hot girls talking, games like Desert Stalker is the only example I can think of

Depends on the game, but usually you can tell from the first few scenes if it's just a run of the mill story or an actually interesting one.

Some are good, some are not. Recently I've been reading the Cosy Cafe one. You can easily tell which story is too shallow or too much from the first few minutes.

I wouldn't play an AVN if the story wasn't worth reading. Or more accurately, I wouldn't replay and follow an AVN if the story wasn't worth reading since I can't always predict bad eggs from goods eggs :p

If it's well written I will definitely read everything and try to engage with the story. If it's poorly written I will frequently just pick random choices and/or do a CG RIP and not even bother playing the game.

If I see a lot of mistakes that even I as a non-native speaker can spot easily then I usually drop the reading. Also, 15min prologues with full of text walls are a big turn off.

Ideally it would be nice to show some eye candy with some introduction and some humor in it. If you cannot explain the start of story in a few minutes in the game, the story can’t be great.

I don't even play most games which don't really have a story. If it is just a fuckfest I don't like it. Good story is one of the most important things to me.

yes and no, I make an effort to read usually but depending on what's going on I'll just skim through

If I wouldn't bother reading the story I wouldn't play a porn game but simply watch porn.

I'll read until the first scene; if the story pleases me, I'll continue; otherwise, it's just material

All the time! I got sick of watching regular porn because there's no story to it. They just fuck and that's it. The story in AVNs adds to the porn and makes each scene feel so much more rewarding.

If you don`t have me hooked in the first hour, I skip the rest or dropping if I don`t have good mood that day.
