Do you change the MC's name and to what?

John Smith. Fairly standard, and it keeps uniformity across games.

For a male MC, usually my own, even if I don't identify or want to identify *shrugs*
For female, I'll either keep it default or name her after a girl I like/liked.

Majority of the time if its a male I'll use my own but if its female I'm not bothered

when offered i always change the name, cause otherwise i tend to not know who others are talking about when they say the MC's given name. Most often I use names that stand out or sound funny, so when the characters call it out it add levity to every situation. but in a story where i want the character to have a real bad time, i usually give them a really horrible name. In the very rare occasions theres a game that I am more prone to an rpg mindset than I name the MC using one of my mmorpg tags or avatar names, cause i like the symmetry. After all, in WoW my main character is the same person as my main in FFXI, via transmigration. I'm one of those werid people who give their video game avatars their own backstory as if I was still playing DnD. But I rarely find a VN worthy of going into an rpg frame of mind to play. Eternum, and I want to say Artemis, but if I was the MC in there, then Kindra would be as far along in her pregnancy as the days since MC reconnected with her. Way too cute and nerdy not to be a freak in bed.

I never use the default. Even for games that search and destroy mods / incest patch, I get the last laugh by naming the MC =
-Dad / Bro
-Mom / Sis

I'm petty that way.

Hell yeah, every single time. I use many names, but always the same last name: Wayne. What can i say? i'm a huge Batman fan.

I name all MCs Anon Ymous. I don't usually change other characters.

I usually keep the default option, but when not possible I use John Smith for male MCs and a random female name for female MCs.

Just curious - what do you, guys, name your MC in the games where name change is possible? Do you keep it default or do you change it?
I always change his name to Dylan, named after Captain Dylan Hunt of "The Andromeda Ascendant" cuz that TV show is one of the very few old time masterpieces. :)

I set the MC's name if given the option to my own. as for female side characters/LIs, I typically leave them be unless its a particular egregious foreign sounding name that doesn't match the model or setting (such as in games that seem to have a US setting, but were made with Russian names for instance, if it matches the model/setting, I leave it be), in which case I tend to lean towards Alice (after Alice in Wonderland), Laura, or Marie, as those are also names I like.

I usually stick with the default name and it annoys me if none is provided. If I have to chose one, I try to take one that fits into the setting of the game.

Usually use my own first name (plus whatever the Dev puts as my surname). Gets me more imersed in the story.

I keep the default name if it is not too ridiculous. Otherwise, I choose a random one.

I used to use my real name but it doesnt look good when used in english sentences so i started using nam Dante

My MC name is usually Bob because it is easy to write and easy to remember.

I do change it every time, and to the name jack. Main reason is its a name I have 0 association with irl so I dont get weirded out because my brain never shuts up

Yes, I do rename my MCs. I rarely use my real name, but I use something close... I have once used a really stupid name because I thought it was funny given how serious the game was.

Lately I made a small change - in the games where the last name is allowed to be changed as well, I name him Pussyhunter. Dylan Pussyhunter. :D
