They can but it seems more and more common that trying to animate scenes is just too much for the dev to handle and the rest of the game starts to slip as a result. Even if the animation isn't bad, the actual visual quality of the anim can be very lo-res which takes you out of the experience very quickly.

I always appreciate animations even if its bad.

Animations often just slow the game down and add extra GB to the size of the game. If I wanted a video I'd just go watch porn.

yes the game feel more alive if done good

It depends on how is it made and what kind of text are displayed when animation is on going. There are games where there's no animation but text makes up for the sex scene. MidLife Crisis is a good example for that.

Animation yes, but don't confuse it with cinematics, which really sucks. If it's not used dynamically, it might as well not exist.

They can, sometimes though people just string a few frames together and call it animation in the VNs, which doesn't hurt, but isn't really an improvement.

They don't improve a game per say, more along the lines of they add onto the game. If it's a shit game, it'll be like putting pickles on a shit sandwitch

And they have to be GOOD animations or it just fucks shit up.

Ofcourse they do All animations improve the game

I would say that, generally, animations are a great enhancement to a game. However, poor animations detract from a game. I hate it when that animation is little more (or no more) than essentially a cutout of the image shifting on the screen where the model doesn't move except as a static whole. The next step up is nearly as bad (though this can be somewhat forgiven with a first attempt at animation).

I think they are good if done well, like I don't want a pokemon battle style animation in the middle of a game lol

Depends how well they are made and more importantly how well they are implemented.

I will have to say that it depends. Some animation's loose out on the quality, If the quality is there depending on the angles yes it can make it better but can also wreck the game

Seeing the movement is a lot better than trying to imagine it most of the time. So yes i think Animations improve games

Good animations can make a 'very' good game from an already 'good' game... But a bad game will never become a good game because of animations...

The quality of animation in AVN across the board are just now becoming good so I would say yes.
Back in like 2020 I would mostly say no lmao.
