I speak Spanish and I have to translate the games, but where I definitely learned what little I know of English was listening to music, more specifically Linkin Park, imagine dragons, breaking benjamin
I would recomend you that an english speaker do the traductions. And LP is the best, I never find people that likes LP

I have a program that uses the deepl API with which I do the translations and it works great.

And of course LP is incredible, but since that news in 2017 let's say that with the passage of time sadly the audience has been lost

Bro, never trust only in translates. I saw a lot of time the translate is bad. Specially when you not put the subject (commonly you don't put the yo, ellos, ella in spanish).

And yes...when chester commited suicide I recently had know the band. Its sad that we never will hear a new song.

Gladly to say no. My country uses english as its second language so we start to learn english by the time we start gradeschool

I started learning english when I played on the ps2, all the games were in english lul.
Don't really know if VNs helped much tbh, I did learn at least 80 ways to say cum and cock tho

90% of my music is in English, and that helped me a lot, but also playing porn games and watching porn comics, etc.

I'm not sure how i learned english. Not in school and on purpose

Not really. I have learned from watching TV series ans reading books in english.

Not really VN's but I did learn most of my english trough media and the internet, plus the base I got from school. But I still remember being a little kid and asking my mom what "To be continued" meant when I saw it at the end of some cartoon.

Is this a question or a joke?
Considering the fact most devs dont speak english and translate the worst bullshit possible, its almost impossible to learn english with those games.
I learned basic english in school and expanded my knowledge by being broke. It was hard in the past to find multi or german games/programs online...

No, I've had an understanding of english for a long time.

No. I started learning English from 1st class (7 yo) because at that time the Russian slavery was officially over, thus allowing us to learn all the Western languages we wanted. My mom then decided English would be the future (IDK how she knew that), so she signed me up for English classes in private language schools. Which resulted in my knowing way more than my classmates, thus making me sleep through those classes. One of the reasons for sleeping through her classes (apart from knowing that lesson already), was the amount of information they were feeding to our brains, thus virtually exhausting us. Imagine that: You wake up at 5 AM, go to that private language school at 6 AM, have 3 astronomical hours fully covered with English lessons and no breaks, then you have less than 30 minutes to get your sleepy ass to the government school and you're expected to be fresh for another series of classes at the government school. Those government lesssons usually started at 9 AM and ended at 5 AM. As much as energy we had at that age, it was exhausting even for us. But that did bear fruits - it launched me so far ahead of my classmates, I was only showing up out of respect for the teacher. Naturally the teacher was offended at first but after I demonstrated to her exactly how far we are with the English lessons, she let me sleep through her classes and on top of that always gave me straight A's in English, even without my knowledge. Ofc I had some difficulties with the spelling of two words ("necessary" and "hipocrisy"), so I always expected to fail because of that but the main examiner told me that no one is required to know everything, every single word and letter in a foreign language they weren't born into. Thus I never had anything lower than a straight A in English.

Nowadays sometimes people (esp. those on Fascistbook) think (for an unknown reason to me) I'm an American despite my clearly non-American name. Go figure why would they think that. I'm not offended by that, just... surprised.

Later in high school (the same school where I was sleeping through the English classes), the situation was pretty much the same with Psychology when they introduced it as a class. I never even unpacked the notebook out of its foil that it came wrapped in and I still had straight A's. The first thought of the teacher ofcourse was that I had cheated somehow. Until I explained it to her that Psychology and logic often go hand in hand, especially in the areas we were studying, so I was always answering correctly. She couldn't believe it and neither did some of my classmates which resulted my going home with a blue eye one day. When I explained the logic to all of them, they stopped bullying me over this.

And no, I'm not a genius! Pfft, I wish I were! If I were, I'd be filthy rich like Nylon Musk! But logic is and has always been one of my strenghts, much like a Vulkan, minus the pointed ears.

I didn't learn, but I definitely improved and expanded my vocabulary, although you learn even more when you translate games into your native language.

I learned the meaning of some words just by playing games, then by watching series with subs i could listen and hear the words. thats how i learned: Games and Series

I basically learned my English from American TV shows, which probably helped a bit with the vocabulary for playing games

I learned my english by playing videogames. I did shit in school and played cod multiplayer all day with headset
