is this still in development? I played it before the remaster, I think, and didn't like the writing, but liked most of the other features, so decided to keep it bookmarked and wait and see.

On hold = usually a pit stop to abandoned esp after being in that state for over a year so prob not. They are working on another main AVN I forgot the name of since it's a sandbox.

If I see sandbox I will usually just skip a game. Depends on how it's done, but I prefer just having a story.

I think I define sandbox games differently maybe? Isn't that the "go anywhere, do anything" concept? Not sure I've ever seen one like that in this genre tbh. Generally in the AAA games market they come with decent stories as well.

To me sandboxes have their uses:
Kids to play in
Cats to shit in (hopefully after the kids are done, not before)
Builder games at the end where it's potentially never-ending (ie Factorio Space Age)

To me it has 0 place in the middle of a porn story when all I wanna do is insert as the MC, make some choices that guide the plot, and fap to the results, which usually requires only one hand on the mouse when there's no sandbox or other dumb game elements to deal with. Other than a very few loli-incest ones that are kinda old at this point (4+ years) like Apt 69 or Altered Destiny like many others if I see a sandbox tag I now simply just not even download it. If I want to deal with that due to lack of horniness I'll just play an actual sandbox game that tends to be made in Unity or Unreal 5 without the distracting porn like the aforementioned Factorio or Satisfactory.

Yeah for porn AVNs anything that's not just a story with (ideally plot-altering) choices at most is a sandbox. Things like maps, stat and money grinding, puzzles, point and clicking, minigames, etc are sandbox elements that tend to shock or break immersion. Not only that it makes things harder than necessary just to tell a porn story, both for coders (since Renpy wasn't meant for actual games when Unity is far better for that) and readers even when there's an in-game guide or walkthrough telling you where to go next when ideally the plot automatically takes you to the next scene. In short having to think too much or repeat shit that could be handled by a series of unique choices/scenes kills my boner (ie simple yes/no's vs some hidden threshold needed of some 0-100 stat just to unlock sex with a particular LI, usually done from repeating the same monotonous scenes over and over the required number of times in the worst sandboxes).

Your points are valid and I've definitely experiences some of the pains you describe, I do like a well done story with choices that matter. But in the end, they rarely do actually matter in these kinds of games. Hell, it's hard to make them matter in some of the best AAA games out there. As in, lots of paths that all lead to the same general ending.

Your points are valid and I've definitely experiences some of the pains you describe, I do like a well done story with choices that matter. But in the end, they rarely do actually matter in these kinds of games. Hell, it's hard to make them matter in some of the best AAA games out there. As in, lots of paths that all lead to the same general ending.

There are a few where choices do matter like Jury, but those tend to be non-harems where the ending is just which LI you get stuck with since you can't fuck them all in the same read without being stuck with no one, which tends to piss some people off that they have to replay it just to get scenes they missed (again, mostly monotonous when you already mostly know what's going to happen with the plot, like for movies one has to REALLY like it to read it over and over). Back when I played those types I just gave up after one time and said to hell with the LI's I didn't get to fuck. I didn't really want to see them naked and dripping cum bad enough to ctrl-skip for several hours to do so.

Does this have animations ?

no tag so nope. Animations are hard, time consuming and expensive for anything other than those 2-render flip-flops or at best an auto loop of 5 renders, esp when on a laptop like most devs are (at the $2hr most devs make they can't afford a good $5000 Daz/Blender PC). Hell even Grandma's House still doesn't simply because updates would go from 2 weeks to 2 months and I guess his subs don't want them that bad.

These days with the next-gen snowflakes being able to vote and cry louder after turning 18 most likely it was probably outlawed in his country, even though it was legal at the start. Times like this I really wish there was a country with a totalitarian dictator that just happened to like porn and AVNS in particular and was also a ped0 with incest, bestiality, and other fetishes, so instead of outlawed devs that moved there and made smut he liked would get tax credits and other perks, with the whiners being sent to labor camps if they whined. If incest was also legal there in real life I'd move my family there.
