It's supposed to be a temporary price, but it's been like that for a while now.

The 5000 was supposed to be only that high until things "got sortet out", but it's has been over 2 weeks.
So the temporary price has gotten to a permanent one.

Sure one can buy the weekly one for 200, but that's basically 67 posts worth of coins per week.
Yeah I know getting likes and yadda yadda lurker thread. Truth is, only a fraction of user visit that thread and those prices are still measured on those few.

Are you talking about the 200 or the 5000?
Because lets say each of your posts get 5 likes for whatever reason, which usually only happen in the lurker thread, which only a few actually visit regularly.
You still need over 700 posts for full Members+.

And casual visitors, who only check in every now and then, simply can't do the 67 posts a week (which already include 2 likes for each post, otherwise it would be 100 posts per week).
The whole system incentivizes user to donate money.

I heard there were some "sales" when the price would go down for a few hours, and was planning on waiting for a sale. But I'm scared that if I wait, the price will be increased instead.

Those sale are a relict of the past. In the first months after the credits system was implemented (April 2024, only minutes before this thread was made), there were those sales, with up to 50& off. But they got less frequent over the time until they stopped around fall of the same year.
After that the only "sales" that happened were for donating money and getting some more coins than regularly.
