Best movie sequels of all time!

Gremlins 2! Pure craziness and it gave us this hilarious Key and Peele skit

I liked the special effects in Avatar 2. Not the story I barely remember that or any characters. But I'm not watching Smurf 3, 4 or 5. and Jimmy needs to get over his AI fetish of destroying his movies by scrubbing all film grain.

I think No Time to Die actually was a mixed movie but I hate the idea of 007 dying. I also believe that Daniel Craig is the best actor who ever took on the role but was never really playing Bond. Barbara Broccoli has the ideal of remaking Bond in a modern way, she still hasn't figured it out based on her comments on wanting a Bond for a modern audience. By its very nature he can't be Bond, because Bond is a misogynist, a killer, a thug a blunt instrument of her majesty, obviously now his majesty. At best the last redo Goldeneye when they made M a woman was a way to update it but he still was the same guy despite no cold war backdrop. If its slight like that i can except it. But if they make him something else make your own spy series. And retire this franchise.

I thought all the Men in Black movies were excellent except for International. You could tell the story was changed midstream and it had studio interference. And it just was not a good movie.

Oh easy, Star Wars the Empire Strikes Back, Godfather 2. Spider-man 2. Rocky 2. I know others will disagree but Indiana Jones and the Temple of Doom. Also it is vastly overrated but i can't forget Star Trek II The Wrath of Khan.
Agree with you on the Star Wars - Empire is the best of all of the star wars films. I thught the Obi Wan Kenobi series was pretty damned good too (yes i know that's not a film)

It had its issues but I liked Kenobi, I also think the prequel montage at the beginning the strongest aspect and never liked those movies up until recently and I still have issues with them.

I wonder if I will ever do a 180 on the Disney movies, I absolutely despise the sequel trilogy despite liking force awakens the two times I watched it. I have to force myself to find things I like about the Last jedi I still find it a hard watch, never been able to sit through it again all at once. I liked the art design and effects and acting and direction, music, pretty much everything except how they handled the OT characters or the story, the lack of anything making sense and no world building.

I may love Return of the Jedi the last third has never been topped since the big grand space battle and they did that with matte printers not cgi. But is a horrid sequel to Empire Strikes Back. It is so simple and childish in comparison to Empire. Its solution to the galactic conflict is faith, not any realistic scenario, its rather silly actually, all about Luke throwing away his weapon allowing his enemy to kill him to turn Vader to the good side. But he survives.

I think it's been mentioned a few times in this thread but Captain America: The Winter Soldier is such a good sequel. The reveal that half of SHIELD is actually just HYDRA had my jaw dropped. Would've been even more intense if they actually did kill off Nick Fury in it, but classic Marvel. 🤷🏻‍♂️

Civil War and Winter Solider and Infinity War were Marvel in top form, I doubt we will ever get there again.

I hope Doomsday is good but so far it feels like a gimmick, that and secret wars and all these multiversal movies feel so empty.

For myself the Bond films have always been a time where I can turn off my brain and enjoy the fun and spectacle. I have not seen the latest release but feel that the Daniel Craig era of films have lost some of the fun by NOT having the cool gadgets. Yes, the scene with the radio was good but seeing the old DB-5 in 'Skyfall' was BETTER. I mean one of the MOST important parts of the older films was ALWAYS the scenes where Q gave Bond the new gadgets AND how they were used later in the films.

As I said I have not seen the latest release and have NO plans to do so. Bond does not die; he takes an extended vacation between movies and returns as a new actor. :) That being said I would have enjoyed a film where they pretend to be 'modern' and have a female co-lead. Of course, at the end Bond will kill the other agent to protect the government from the STUPID idea of the woman becoming important for 'being a woman and needing diversity' instead of skill and ability. I know that's a questionable position to have in the present, but as said Bond IS a creation from a different time.

Just some thoughts.

P.S. There was a story about how after releasing one of the films (don't remember the title) the gadget creators were approached by several Governments about how they made a TINY SCUBA unit. The Movie makers had to tell them that it was a PROP, and the scene was filmed with the actor HOLDING HIS BREATH. :)

Yeah the good quality level of buildup and handling of each character is what's missing IMO. Other than Spidey, no other hero has gotten much solo focus.

As already mentioned by others, I also like the Shrek movies and the Kung Fu Panda movies. What can I say – fan of animation!

terminator 2 and aliens are the obvious answers
can't think of any others off the top of my head I haven't seen many movies

Share your thoughts on what movie sequels you think are amazing.

I'll start by saying that Terminator 2 is one of the best sequels ever made.
You might not believe me but I saw the thread, thought Terminator 2 and opened the first page.....
Also, empire strikes back.
technically, a prequel spin-off, not a sequel... but rogue one.
two towers was better than fellowship imo.
