Ya but AI art is in its infancy and broad statements like that are no different than saying you despise brushes in art. AI is just a tool like photoshop or digital modeling. Sure its "soulless" now but the two biggest reasons for that is the methods artists use to make ai art hasn't truely been devoloped yet and the other is the technology isn't good enough on both hardware and software levels. Also human artists using AI should go over and finish the work by hand to fix the pieces, either because it looks wrong or to give it that human touch or soul. I'd expect in under a decade we start to see full length animated movies and shows made almost entirely with AI's doing the majority of the work.i despise ai "art" to be honest. most of the stuff generative ai produces just feels empty and vacuous. what's that one quote where the guy was like "AI made me believe in the human soul by showing me what art looks like without it" or something? idk. i know a lot of people here like it, but even if you don't consider the impact its having on the power grid, its just not something i ever see myself enjoying or appreciating.
Also you wont even realize it when you do start enjoying/appreciating it because at that point you will no longer be able to tell if something is AI without a disclaimer. 'AI girlfriends' have already become a thing and people cant tell, likewise you can video chat with an AI and not be able to tell if there's someone on the other end who knows what they are doing to direct the AI. Moo's right about it being like cars to horses compairison however if goverments regulate the hell out of AI it might force us to keep using horses long past the point where cars became better, safer, and cheaper option.
