Whole front page of latest updates is mostly AI games today, so made me wonder. Anyone play any of the AI games? Are they any good? I usually avoid them and prefer the 3D model/anime style variants because of consistency in character presentation.

I played a couple back in the day, the issue was mostly that AI games had less effort put into them, it wasn't only the art but the actual stories, gameplay, mechanics that all felt extremely shallow. I tried about 6 AI games total and they all had the same issue. I think if someone actually puts in effort into a game using AI content it might not be too bad, I don't know how far they can get away from the uncanny feeling you get when looking at AI art.

The only good examples of AI art I've seen were in mods for existing sandbox games, where having thousands of characters is not really feasible unless you AI generate them or use 3D models -- I prefer AI generated images in that case over 3D models.

I typically prefer 3d ones, but since I only play female protagonist games and male pov is a big turn-off for me, I end up playing whatever matches my needs, since there's not that much variety unfortunately

Nope. The only game that I played and enjoyed that also had art with a bit of AI help (the backgrounds were made with AI and characters were made with the help of AI) were games from TwistedScarlett60 (Monster Girl 1000 at the end and Unveiling the Unknown from the start).
Oh, I also played Dungeon Desire: The Sleepless City of Runeheim, sadly it lags as heck. Even though art was AI it was good.

I also tend toward the 3d/anime types. Due to how AI creates an image it can be tough to maintain consistency. There are some tricks though. I've only played one game that used AI but it also used image to image processing to maintain consistency and get what the developer wanted it to do. I think they used HS2 or Koikatsu images as a base.

I must have had the good luck of playing a good one then. Maybe they were just taken with the idea of AI image generation but had no knowledge on how to work it and hadn't developed their writing skills? Perhaps those developers thought they could get a game out in no time since "AI is fast"? Which yes, processing a image doesn't take too long based on your hardware, but you can also generate dozens of images and only get 1 or 2 that are good.

Agreed, I think 2d is more my preference. The quality seems to overall be better. I think 3d can be done well but when it's not, it's horrifyingly not.

So I'm using YouTube Music for the first time ever, because Spotify is currently down. A bit of a backstory...

My first real smart phone was an iPhone 4 and at the time I don't believe there was any option other than using the malware app iTunes, so I ripped all my CD's into mp3s and imported them into iTunes. Not sure the dates on that, but in Oct 2015 I finally got a real phone, Samsung Galaxy S10 and migrated all my music into Google Play at the time. It worked like a dream. Fast forward to Spotify becoming popular, I signed up and have had premium ever since Dec 2018 and basically use it exclusively. In Jun 2020 Google emails me saying that they are shutting Google Play down and I should migrate my music to YouTube Music, which I did and never used until today.
