I think I found a bit of a language barrier for me while searching for the answer

Mesh is technically a type of fabric - usually lightweight, with a net-like open weave. But kind of like how everyone calls tissues “Kleenex,” people often use “mesh” to describe fishnets too, even if they’re technically a specific style of mesh.
