I've never tried to go full-black roux - I like it dark, but not quite that far. I don't post my own photos here, but color matched a picture of my last batch to this example - same lighting, so it looks a little lighter than when the flash isn't engaged.

Probably a little better than doing medical experiments on random strangers and newbies. And at least I never showed up looking like this.
One of the first things I see in that reaction folder and was wondering if I'd ever get a good reason to use it again.
