when we got our 32inch 720p it was like 250 or 350 usd(we took the cheapest thing they had, it was at a liquidation store, the other tvs they had were like 900 usd for maybe 1080i)

I wanted to make sure I got a good panel with good reviews, and the right mix of HD with antenna options.
The TV was all that and high end, to go with my 5.1 surround setup.
The first thing I did was play Alan Wake on Xbox 360 so loud that the train going past shook my windows.
I broke a brand new screen trying to fix it in 2017. Over tightened a screw like a damned idiot

Man, I remember when that game came out. How amazed I was by the detail in the fabric on his coat, and the way the wind blew it around. It's a shame they had to go for the linear route instead of the original vision of the game being open world.

TV and movies can help, but only for you to get used to listening the language. Unfortunately, to speak is another problem. Maybe use the speak-to-text of these translators.
What got me better in English was reading. Reading everything in English to get used to it.

Yes I agree. I actually find being in the country, talk with locals who don't understand Japanese and just be with their culture, was a huge thing for me. This also how I learned better English. I did learn some basic things from English shows and such but in those days I could not read any English. Even now I find many words confuse and read does help for sure, but there is USA and UK English, then Australia (I was those days in Australia for a while) the USA spelling and also writing style is often different, so, it does still take time, but even I return to Japan my English is get losing because no one in my area can talk English lol. Reading helps but only is people can read the letters. I do like Youtube. it does help me to hear and continue know what I already understand. Yes, I do also read sometimes. (Sorry about my bad writing explaning lol)

Oh, a dog helps you a lot in this regard, but I don't like pets this much to have one inside the house.I don't mind pets, but don't have time to give to them, so it would be wrong to get one.
I'm trying to do some exercises, two times a week I go to the gym, but I don't like it, it's a drag. But I go to die a little later in life.

Well, my dog is great. she is perfect for exercise together with my partner. Plus she will protect if some weird freak will try to be dumb but of course, if you don't got time or don't want to put the time ect.. then I agree not to get a dog or any pet. As for gym. I certainly understand how you feel, but you can only be the one to know about your fitness. You have choice just like we all do. I am very unfit and god lazy ass and it is effort to walk every day but sadly it is something I need to. We all should apparently, but gym seems less of interest, but go for it if you like those kinds of workout. I just think they are full of stinky ass sweat people with powerful bodies and so best for a person like me to keep away,

Watching several shows from other countries really opened my eyes to styles of humor. It's helped me understand some Japanese and British humor. Has made a lot of shows much more enjoyable.

100%. Like I said before, I do not understand most USA humor and I am sure people here dont always understand my strange vampire humor, but I did and still learn a lot from TV shows. It is interesting to find how very different USA is to British and so on. You guys talk same language but many many humor and culture difference. Kinda makes it interesting IMO. Especially I notice on these English based forums. It is a huge place for many learnings and lot of lunatic and confusion haha (jk)

hmm? strange. I dont know much about the translators, but maybe Google is better at some language. I just find Google is ok, but often can get things wrong. In Japanese translations Deeple is much better. It could be that Google is set more for western (Roman) based written text. im not sure. Seems some translation program are better with some language and not so good with others.

Yeah, I've also seen that DeepL is great for JP; also, I've only the one experience with German>English to go by with it, so it may be that other users will get better results on that. All I can say for sure is give it a shot, jsut don't be too surprised is you get some pretty cursed results like we did.

O for sure. Dont get me wrong, I do use Google a lot. Mostly for words or very short, simple writing, but for Japanese and I belief most Asian writing structure, especially Chinese style, Google is hopeless most of the time. I feel even Russia to English Google is also terrible, there are couple reason i can think about. One is the way our writing and language is structure, so, I feel Google should be more accurate in the less complicated writings, but also, I don't think even Deeple is very good for manuscript translating. These online translations programs find it almost impossible to get accurate and so there is need for proper translator. I am translate my Japanese vampire stories to English myself because otherwise it looks a mess and deeple is ok in most times but I gave up when it comes to translate large documents/manuscripts. I think there is a talk to text that i should actually try out rather word to word. but, it helps in some ways
