yeah, I hear lot of critter do that in USA and some South America countries, so best try make sure they cant get to the trash but if i see such things i would be amazed, even raccoons do this I heard and bears, so it is just nature. They're not mean, and they're very skittish, so they usually don't come that close to us, but they are little burglars that will also leave a giant mess if you don't lock the trash bins. Hahaha
They open the lid and tear apart all the trash bags, leaving trash everywhere. But they're very cute, so that's okay.![]()
yes, this true. Guess it is this way. Same when I lived before in Australia, the Natives Aboriginal have huge problems with the western settlers but I like to think one day the balance will be restore somehow.I think every colonized country has some kind of disaffection to the colonizer country. Hahaha
I may be biased, but I think Brazil is very good to travel for. It being one of the biggest countries on total area, have lots of difference landscapes, climates, cultures, foods, so it can be really diverse.
We brazilians are mostly friendly, yes, but there are exceptions and even the friendly ones can take advantage of "gringos", so beware! Always stay alert for theft, never leave belongings unattended and do your own math for the prices (some business will convert using double the rates! Hahaha).
But our food is delicious, there is plenty of nature (at least for now, it's been years since companies and businessmen deforest it with the government not doing anything...) and beautiful beaches. I hope you come someday and like it!
Obviously portuguese comes from Portugal, but it also has a lot of other influences that affected our culture and maybe our language as well.
I think our country must be one of the most mixed countries in the world (if not the one). We have the biggest japanese community outside Japan, the biggest lebanese community outside lebanese countries, the biggest italian community outside Italy, and I think the most african population outside the countries from the Africa continent. That's why our country has so much different stuff mixed together.
I think the first version of romaji was created during the Nanban trade period, when Japan had a lot of portuguese influence. Bread, sweets, playing cards and many more were all introduced by Portugal, as far as I know. The influence was so big that Japan completely locked itself for outsiders cultures by prohibiting any further exchange with Portugal and creating an artificial island to trade with other countries, without the foreigners coming in contact with the japanese population, or something like that. I find this bit of history really interesting and a very robust "link" between the two cultures.
After the internet, some youngsters started making some halloween parties and such, but the general population don't celebrate it. I mean, there's thematic products, candies and such, but it's marketing, they'll sell to you everything, even more so if it's imported...
And don't worry, Philippines and Brazil are cousin countries. We are similar for some reason, and the "but crime is bad so make sure you understand and dress with nothing expensive because there are bandit there, but the people are very nice" is my reality everyday.
My wife have never been there, and I don't have any memories of it, so it would be a new experience from us. But we already consume japanese culture a lot, we would definitely love it!
I also notice it seems Brazil is one of safest South America countries but yes, I am aware about theft and crime. I did see documentary about how poor some areas are and how these people live are very hard and so they need to do something to survive. Even here, some business try to over charge foreigner for things, so, this is common for tourist in many countries. But i probably will not go to Brazil or even any place outside Japan because it cost a lot of money, but never know. it is place I certainly feel seems nice, or I should say, mostly nice. Most people most likely will ask if I am from China lol. I had this in some other foreign country before but its ok, they don't know.
Im glad the government and businesses stopped or slow down the killing of the forest but I did see on documentary that illegal gold mining and such still happens in the Amazon and there are still some problems but actually this is same in many country I feel.
I understand this. Many country have similar things and so, even Spanish countries talk different to mainland Spain. Even USA and UK, so this is normal. Pert of Japan have also some native who talk in strange kinds of Japanese so we have some similar things here.
Wow! I never knew Brazil have so many different cultures and huge Japanese population. It sounds cool and interesting.
Sadly, I don't know a lot about this part of history of Japan and Romanji. I didn't study it hardly at all, but I did realise something about big trade with foreigners some time before the WW1 and 2, then Japan closed its doors to outside world until 1945. Interesting fun fact.. or maybe not so fun.. There is now growing nationalism to try to reduce tourists and foreigners in Japan because recent years there is too many dirty and selfish tourists who spoil all the best place and don't respect Japanese rules. i feel Japan likes tourism but on other hand is getting tired of the bad behavior, so big changes are soon to take place it seems. Its a shame some idiot spoil everything else for the rest of decent people. I even seen trash and junk in one of the worlds most beautiful parks. Not just once but a few times. This was after some asholes tourists just was too lazy to pick up their junk. It happens apparently a lot. Also they invade private streets with signs ask tourists not to go because of private reasons. Those dumb youtubers are often jerks. hmmmmm not good for everyone else who are cool. A few spoil the mood for all.
Yes, i been to 3rd word country once and so i understand this. Just i will wear my t shirt and jeans and keep maybe $5 on pocket and hide rest in my panties or somewhere safe away from pocket thiefs lol. If someone wants my money they get $5 and I can empty my pockets and pretend to be sad that i have no more hahaha
Man, you and wife will love Japan and I can give you list of most beautiful places to visit. Crime is very very low and you and her can walk Tokyo street in night and no one will harm you ever. People still welcome tourists in many part of Japan but there are places where they are not so fussy about foreigners. Not racist but just maybe more traditional. Its hard to explain but my are not likely to visit those smaller villages and towns hard to get to.
