I typically like horror/mystery anime and I finished one last week called Another. It surprised me with how much I enjoyed it!

Not sure if death note is Shonen, but it is definitely a masterpiece. Akira is great, but the manga is so much better and longer that I would highly recommend you read it.

One Punch Man seemed like it would be funny, it blew all expectations out of the water. Must watch

Netflix recently added Great Teacher Onizuka if not mistaken, certainly give that a look.

From action shounen, my favorite would be Hunter X Hunter and FMA: Brotherhood.

Another classic, and a bit fucked up, would be Now and Then, Here and There. Often forgotten, but I have fond memories of it.

There's a lot of good anime this current season.

Right now Jellyfish Cant Swim At Night is a contender for best anime of the season.

Besides all the stuff returning for this season the new shows above are pretty damn good. I'm enjoying this season a lot.
