if it's text based game i don't really mind because it's just a portrait or something but if it's visual novel kind it's mehh boring for me

The not named game, that was reason for the 1. April incident here, use AI, and it was not noticeable, that is were made with help of AI. So, it depends on the dev. I think.
But I said that before.

I don't mind; if it lessens the work for developers, that's good enough. However, AI image generation is still in its infancy, especially with regard to the NSFW limits. In a few years, we might likely witness a lot more widespread use.

Also, Though there are still limitations with the GPU when running such models, I believe it will grow more popular if there are models similar to Runway AI or Open AI Sora that have less restrictions and open source design. including video based models.

Even now it's almost impossible to tell if it's AI or not for high quality graphics, the limitation is more the access to the tools. I'd try to make a game if creating AI graphics was less of a drag.
I think I'd struggle to tell for individual images but the minute you put them into a context and you try to narrate something around them, I would be able to tell. It's because you're not generating random images anymore, but you have to essentially do some world building. The environment needs to be coherent and follow the same general art direction, same for the characters, etc.
I guess consistency is key and consistency is very hard to get if you rely entirely on AI from background generation to character animation.

I'm less of a fan of it in VNs. I like for the models to be "not real". If I want "real" there are plenty of places to go for that and all manner of women of every description. Well, maybe not with actual cat ears or boobs the size of a small planet (for those that are into that), but pretty much everything else.

Personally I think AI art can be quite good if done right (which is to say, a vast majority is not done right). A certain game which I can no longer access had really good AI art that I was looking forward to the continuation of...

I´m afraid, even after achieving member+. You will not find it on this site anymore.
You guys are using a cryptic language. Is there a game that got removed even from here? A tad too realistic maybe?
I'm not asking for the name of course. Just wondering.

I don't mind it as long as it looks good. Some AI art is easy to see at a glance and can detract from things

Yes.
You can find a Thread named "little witches game" That describe it (And complaining about removing)

AI art in games? Ugh. To sum it up for me.. this says it all.

Don't really hate it but kinda dislike it, the faces all look alike, the boobs always have the same forms from games to games.

Right up until Girl Scout Island and LWA came out I would have said Ai is pretty lame for making games.

Now we can see what someone can do using AI as a tool, not a crutch, combined with artistic talent and the time to photoshop issues.

Just like the game selection now, the future will have 1 million Ai games and 12 of them will be awesome.

I've seen quite a few games (mostly visual novels) with AI generated art being made and there seems to be more each passing day (see AI Art Games).

What's your opinion on AI art in games at its current state?

I personally feel like most of them struggle with one or many of the following points:
  • Maintaining a Unified Artistic Vision: There's often a noticeable disconnect between the art of the background and the foreground. Characters just feel out of place sometimes.
  • Character Consistency Issues: Characters also tend to morph. Their proportions and the level of detail changes between scenes
  • Lack of Environmental Continuity: Even if the background and foreground (characters, objects, etc) are rendered separately, iterative changes on a given scene/environment (say a new hidden object appears in the background) are non-existent in a lot of AI games.
  • Animated Scenes: Visual novels that use another game engine to render the scenes can also easily generate smooth animated scenes. AI visual novels just can't.
This is often why I avoid AI art like a plague in games, individual images are fine but it breaks my immersion instantly whenever it is used within a game.
It’s kinda shit

Thx to this thread, went down an Ai art rabbit hole today

Some AI content is good, but most of it is very generic, recognizable and lack soul.
