Abandoned VN Ren'Py EGBE [Prologue v0.3.3b] [Ketzal]

5.00 star(s) 1 review
Nah there are still a few games here that make it worth it, but losing both SSP and EGBE was a heavy blow. I think when the stuff with Westy happened a lot of us wanted to believe that it only happened to him because he lived in australia. But the reality is that even if this type of content doesn't get you in trouble with the law where you live, platforms still don't want to host it so sooner or later you will end up being kicked out.
And this is why i think is the end of game+. We can already see the lack of updates

I understand, if it were my situation, I'd do the same. Another possibility I've heard about is private groups on Telegram with donation bots, but if you've really convinced yourself that sooner or later everything will come crashing down, then there's really no way around it.

I just imagined a hacky workaround: having 3 different sources running at the same time, with the public spread across all three. That way, when one goes down, you still have the others, and you regenerate the fallen one and carry on. But that only makes sense in theory.

By the way, Ket, I just wanted to tell you from the heart that I’m really sorry for what happened to you, for all that anguish. I remember our first interaction was when I asked here a few years ago if the game’s pace was getting too fast and that maybe there’d be a surprise in the next update, and you replied, “I love surprises.” At that moment, I could only imagine Leana saying that with a smile, haha, that’s what I pictured back then, at least. And around that same time, I could see how much people’s criticism bothered you. It’s funny, because at the same time the creator often sees themselves as above it all, but the moment they feel even the smallest rejection, they realize they’re just human, and they end up thinking about it all day. Because in the end, that’s what we really are. You are all your characters, but you don’t have the same resilience they do. If we had it, everything would be better, but we don’t. Anyway, I just wanted you to hear these words simply as a person, to know that there are those who truly understand the person behind it all.

Yea, people are on Telegram, and use it successfully, but I personally haven't used it since they started requiring a number, and they block burner numbers. I'm not giving my phone number to a Russian company, especially since I'm only gonna use it for degenerate shit. They say it's end-to-end encrypted, but you're still on a server with other people, and I don't trust anything tech-related out of Russia or China to not have anything funky going on once my data reaches their servers. I'm also not paying for a number just to use their services.

Why the fuck would a service that's used for privacy and anonymity start requiring dumb shit like phone numbers? That's the most retarded move I've heard of in recent memory, other than when OnlyFans tried to ban porn/nudity and promptly headed for bankruptcy so quickly reversed that decision.

I don't know about that. There are a lot of people that only came to this forum because SSP wasn't on Fuck95 anymore. If it had never been posted there I don't know if it would've gained the same amount of support. Or at the very least the support wouldn't have grown as fast as it did.

I actually came to this forum looking for SSP before I ever heard of Cuck95 ;) I first discovered the game via some torrent tracker and after that the only place I could find the latest update was this one.

Telegram isn't a Russian company. The founder is Russian but for long time he's at odds with the Russian government and lives in Dubai. The Russian government had forced him to sell his first business which was a Russian copy of Facebook, so he is the last guy to give the information over to them. Also he had a fight with French government who wanted him to provide the information to them and help them influence elections in Romania and elsewhere. He recently made a public warning about "the end of independent internet". So, Pavel Durov is really committed to freedom of information. Maybe the last romantic in the big tech.

You say a lot of truth. I fully agree. Ketz is a human developer, at the end of the day, who is trying to live in this crazy fucking world and sometimes this world will kick you in the ass. But as a fan of his work for many years I am happy to see that he's not letting this shit destroy him entirely. I know in his heart that he wants to share his storytelling gift with the world and hopefully this time around he'll be able to do that

Do you really think I haven't already tried everything? I can assure you that I have consulted... let's say professional advice on every subject, and the answer is always the same. Whether it's in a week, a month, a year, or even five years, everything will be destroyed, because no one wants to see it, and not enough people can finance this work to make it possible to live with the risk of losing everything.

I've tried everything, I've thought of every solution, it's impossible. So, no, I'm not going to hide, get into crypto, or whatever other crazy idea I might have. Whatever the solution, the risk is always there, and yes, with a certain amount per month/year, it is possible to assume the risk, but, out of 135,000 people who played my games, yes, I made an estimate over four years. Only 1,280 people supported my work. I thank them from the bottom of my heart, and I was able to live and save up to deal with what is happening today, but not enough to take the risk of losing everything again.
i just think its a shame to abandon it after all the effort you've put into it while it may not be possible to continue indefinitely i believe you could finish these games you're consistent and reliable so even if you didn't post in-depth updates on what your actually working on and continued to put out release through a third party site like this one you would be separating where you make money and where the content comes out should keep you safe for the foreseeable future and you could still get paid and if it really does get to the point where it is genuinely illegal to make it you cut your losses but you still clearly have people willing to support you

My lips turned blue trying to read that, even though it was silent reading. Periods exist for a reason. Reminds me of that author that actually released 414-page novel that was just 1 sentence. Other than that I agree, but sadly it seems he has already made up his mind. Now all we can do is hope another loli-incest dev comes along with a similar story (not the mostly slop out left where it was added after the fact with a scene or 2 shoe-horned in just to get the tags).

You really just haven't been paying attention to reality if you're not understanding the reason he's making the change. It has ALREADY gotten to the point where he can't make the games anymore

The worst part of this...other than a man losing his livelihood...is that i don't get my Hebe twincest. SOOOOO close!

I wish it was normal to talk about VNs in real life because of EGBE in specific lol. I have been desperate to give flowers to this gorgeous game. The twins models are perfection! And the corruption ending is *chef's kiss*.

well, he could, he'd just have to make them for free while the income was from the usual boring vanilla crap or like most an un-cancelable other income like crypto trading if not a regular day job. Other than Blackheart and a couple of others the loli devs left do exactly that, which is basically just going back to the way things were 20 years ago, as making money from one's hobby was a relatively recent (apparently temporary) development.

The flaw in your idea is that ketzal does not have the luxury of a large team like Blackheart has. It's primarily him and a few others that work on his game. It's not going to work to make those games for free when this is his main source of income

I really wish Ketzal and Blackheart could team up someday...

Hey, i respect your decision and i think you are right, you should be looking at what's best for you. Since you sought professional advice, i would like to ask you. Could the DLsite new payment system be an escape route for future developers that want to go down that road? I know they have smol content, even 3D (like NEET, Angel, and Ero Family) but i don't know their relationship with western DEVs. Did your legal help said anything about it? Do you think its plausible?
