Lurking is hard nowadays. Every forum requires some amount of participation in order to get into the "good stuff" but I genuinely have nothing to add to most discussions. I've always kinda kept to myself. I guess it's a good opportunity to learn how to be more social online.

Personally I wouldn't spend 10 coins on starting a thread if you want to get to the "good stuff" quickly.;)

Haha thanks, happy to be born today. I'm already walking and talking too. Lights are too bright, and some jerk slapped my ass right after I came out. Very disorienting. But at least the other people seem cool.

nah someone else made him mad.

Yea, rookie mistake on my part. I think I'll be more conservative of my point usage from here on out.

I personally I kinda like it when they slap my ass roght away. Helps get the blood flowing

No interest collection anymore.
And does this mean we should withdraw all coins from the bank? Why else state that this is to "secure your coins"?
so you're saying that people with insanely high passive income bypass the entire system without using the site and can make other users bypass too?
than I ask you, how much do you really care about the site? or you still think that the barrier is because of money, not because we had to jump from host to host because of reports exactly because a random group could see everything?
I dont like removing the interest from the bank, but the reason isnt because I think its a bad idea, I dont like it because I just barely started benefiting from it.
Ever since I first learned about the bank and the 2% daily interest, its been clear it isnt a great long-term idea.
I mean, if I got 100 coins when I first joined this site, put it in the bank, collected the interest of 2% every day and never interacted with the community again, I would have, after a year, over 137,000 coins. (Assuming I didnt fuck up the math)

After a certain amount of coins, if your main objective is accruing more, the coins you get from interacting become trivial compared to the interest.
Removing the interest (or at least strongly nerfing it) encourages more interaction from the community, while also pausing the hyperinflation that 2% daily compounding interest causes.
This is not popular, as we've seen. The reason I'm saying this isn't because I like removing the interest from the bank, it's because it seems to me to be true, and a good idea long term.

Im curious to learn other peoples perpectives on this, i believe my logic is sound, but i wouldnt mind being proven wrong.

Edit: Maybe replace the compounding interest with simple interest, so that you only get interest over the coins you made while interacting, and not with the coins you made with interest?
This would curb exponential growth, while still encouraging all users to interact.

Also good afternoon everyone.

I feel like there's a solution here that doesn't involve just getting rid of interest altogether.

Getting 2% across the board does feel like it would break the eco as you say, but why not change the interest depending on how many coins there are in the bank?
This way you could set the interest somewhat high at low bank amounts and decrease the interest increase it as more coins are added.

I like the idea of interest, but agree 2% is too much, maybe making it more similar to a real bank, which is only 2% a year which equals out to roughly .0005% per day? That would be a mighty nerf, but still give some reward after a certain point.

This is what I think the solution needs to be so that lurkers (like I want to be) aren't penalized excessively. Tiered interest to make it more aligned with a "after posting a couple times and coming to the site most days for six months you can buy the next rank (or keep saving to buy the rank after that in another 6 months)" sort of approach. And once you have say 3x enough to buy the top rank in the bank, your interest rate drops to nothing (or almost nothing).

Sadly, that will take custom development as the coin/bank/whatever plugin in use only supports a single global static interest rate.

Funny, you mention that. I came out as bi a couple years ago. My mother no longer talks to me. Damn shame too, I've been told that I'm quite charming and fun to talk to. Her loss.
