I understand computer science as much as I do cardiovascular surgery, but I suppose it's best to try to propose feasible solutions, since this page is a meeting place for like-minded people. This is all I can contribute. Whoever knows more, contribute more.

I've worked in software dev a long time. The fact that they've spent like 10k on 5 devs to do something so simple that they could probably get AI to poop out the code they need to make a sortable list of games is well beyond SLA at this point. They had a working updates page. Wasn't feature packed, but it worked. When they crashed it, they should have reverted it. When they finally deployed the new one and it didn't work, they should have reverted it. When it doesn't work at all on mobile, they should have reverted it. You don't just sit for weeks with a broken website. You don't test in production.

Yeah, I agree. Even though you might think they should know better by now. The way I understand it, from lurking the threads about this. It is that our mods and admins have no real training in web development. And mistakes happens, so I don't really blame them for this.

I have more understanding for the site runners than the dev they hired. I mean the fact that the dev did not make a backup copy before he started messing with the code. Baffles me.
At least for me, one of the first thing they thought, is to always make a backup copy before you start working.
Just this small piece of info makes me worried that he is just another self-though dev. That is in way over his head. And won't be able to deliver.
But I hope I'm wrong.

We have auto backups running i believe every hour,
Only issue on not wanting to restore a backup is the work that has been live updates.

Now It also adds in normal threads with the game threads when I hit sort by date, though. But you're prob already aware of this.

Anyway, I know you guys are trying to fix this. I will back off and try to not make your headache any worse.
Hope it gets fixed soon.

If they're working on it, then all we can do is wait and be patient. There's no point in harassing or insulting the staff. They know the mistakes they make and the decisions they take. Why stress? I don't think anyone here is a terminally ill patient with months to live to be in such a hurry or that they have nothing better to do in the meantime. I understand people's frustration, but I don't share the reaction of jumping straight down people's throats.
