discussion Do you prefer a faceless protagonist in your games?

i like to see the face of the mc, one reason is i enjoy kissing and the classic super zoom on the girls face when kissing a faceless mc is kinda wack

personally i prefer to have a customizable mc, faceless mcs are too generic for my tastes.

I've always found that faceless protagonists allow me to immerse myself more deeply in the story, it's easier to project my own thoughts and feelings onto a character when they're not fully defined.

I don't really mind whether the protagonist has a face or not—it doesn't make or break the experience for me. What matters more is that the character isn't visually or physically unpleasant. If the design is off-putting or distracting, it can take me out of the game and make it harder to connect with the story or the gameplay. On the other hand, if the character looks good or at least neutral, I can focus on the experience itself, whether I'm projecting myself onto a faceless character or following the journey of a well-defined one.

I do prefer faceless, but comes at the cost of no kissing scenes which is unfortunate as I enjoy that intimacy. That being, said not being faceless isn't a deal breaker personally as long as he doesn't look silly. What comes to mind is Alex from Solvalley School where I recall the protag making some of the most derpy faces out there. Given the premise of the game was to have many silly aspects, but I remember some being really bad and distracting

Can't say I can recall any that I thought was really bad, but in general I do tend to agree the non POV ones are done better.

That's crazy. I can't imagine how bad it has to be for me to want to quit off of an individual scene

Off the top of my head, I think a game called "Kiss Me Daddy" was one. The premise was good, the daughter was cute, but the game was buggy as hell. I might be mis-remembering though!

Come to think of it, I'm not sure I've ever seen a game with a faceless female protag

I would say face on. For me it's all about angles that you would possibly not see from first person perspective.

yeahhh because that would be unpopular, i think... closest i know is Rebel Duet but it still has face for female mc option... it just rarely showed i guess if my memories are correct

Harem Hotel is the type for me, almost faceless male protagonist and the kissing scene is not bad
