True that -- These days if you have an old dishwasher / dryer / furnace etc its best to fix it if you can because the new ones are not built to last as long. My furnace went out after 35 years -- the replacement crapped out after 7. This is intentional. Dates way back to cars in the 60s and light bulbs in the 1920s when the Phoebus cartel, an international organization of lightbulb manufacturers, intentionally designed incandescent light bulbs to have a shorter lifespan, around 1,000 hours, compared to their potential of 2,500 hours. Basically living in a capitalistic society is like walking into a strip joint or a casino . Those places are designed to separate you from your money.
