How do you feel about AAA or similar core game content being pay walled?

It's some bullshit honestly and I wish there was a way to prevent it from happening

I don't mind because it doesn't affect me. I hardly ever spend more than a few hours with a game, with the exception of (visual novels and) unusual indie games. Naturally I only buy AAA or similar games when they are (at least) a few years old, are likely to actually run on my PC without problems by now, and have a serious discount. Often all DLC is included at this point. And if it isn't, I am still very unlikely to ever make it to the point where it's relevant.

For Triple-A games with millions of dollars being invested I think it's unacceptable I always think about Yakuza 8 having New Game plus and a end game dungeon being paywalled as a test to see what people are willing to tolerate as more often than not pre-orders and different editions of the game now have "exclusive" content that you won't be able to access unless you jump through said hoop is once again unacceptable.

For indie developers who do it I can see them getting more leeway as long as it doesn't equate to pay to win or a completely diluted experience.

Honestly I hate when they do this because it's such a slippery slope that gradually fucks over both sides (Players and the Devs) and will lead to even more messed up business practices down the line.

Sad but I understand that the creators have to drink, eat and probably pay rent. If the content is good enough and I want to see more I might even sub to the creator or pay a one-off.

If it's a free game and they paywall minor amounts of content, it's kind of cringe but it is what it is. If it's a paid game and they paywall anything then they deserve to have their urethras to be sounded for 2 weeks. But as a brokie it don't matter to me as long as I can get around it.

WTF is sounded? They deserve a sewing needle shoved up their urethra with force.

AAA games are dead, won't buy them till EA or another BIG game company goes bankrupt and the other BIG companies shit their pants and start doing good games again

I'm always against this AAA company so pirate the game I say 😈

EA sucks ass. They don't even beta test before release, they use draconian DRM - which doesn't stop the pirates, but the pirates get a game that won't spy on them or fuck up their computer unlike those who buy. Plus they ruined the Sims franchise starting with 3 and Sim City starting with Sim City Societies and completely destroying it with the last one - the idiotic idea of making a SC game multiplayer with single player not working well at all. And requiring online all the time.

I hate most modern AAA games with a passion. They will always try to suck out any dollar you have to your name. Locking away content that should be in the main game to paid DLC sucks ass. One thing that they have been more and more recently are these "early releases" where if you pay for the $100 or whatever edition you can play the game a few days earlier. They can fuck right off. It's not "early access" it just means that you are preventing most people from playing it on release. Ruins a lot of the fun of everybody learning the game at the same time.

i hate paywalls, period. but i only pay for complete games, i do not support developing games financially. thus purchasing a product only to be hit with a paywall for extra content when ive already purchased is a slap in the face.

As the god of gaming said "Piracy is not a result of high prices, it is a result of poor service"

Well, high prices too. When it's just for making ridiculous profit. Haven't been to a movie theater since 1994 with the cost a big reason.
