How do you feel about AAA or similar core game content being pay walled?

I don't mean any extras or side content. Just certain games that sometimes side scenes or endings behind a pay wall? I can understand Bonus content or cheats, but endings to a game not so much.

Yeah, that's being a cunt when they do that. Hopefully it gets leaked.

I put then on the list of things to boycott or pirate. The only things you should pay for are minor cosmetics. This applies to ALL types of games.

Some mainstream companies like to even offer free games, but just about everything is pay content.

I understand that these devs should get paid for the work they put into games, but the model of having core content pay walled is not good. Early access to stuff or some nice extra renders/outfits should be all.

As soon as i see that,, I'm out. I don't play them.
They go come play my game and i hope you like it,,,, and then you can't play it. It usually backfires and they get a bad name on forums such as these because of that.
I understand devs trying to force or at least hope you go and get a payed version of the game. The way they do it is just not a feasible way of getting it.
Still put something out there that is playable. If they hide the core game/core lewd scenes they hope they get you interested enough so you buy it.
Never happened to me so far. None of them where good enough and all of them where always in the very early stages of the development of the game.
Always done by some new dev that has 0 finished games. So no,,, i don't think that tactic will ever work. At least not on me.
It's like going to a car dealer and taking a test drive in a new car brand with a supercar worth 5 million but for now it has a dirtbike engine and then the guy going,,,, and ? sign here to pay and order 1.
NO .

I'd label them as greedy and never even consider paying for their game(s). I'm a pirate though so it is a non issue to me personally.
If it's a popular game it will be leaked anyway.

You don't put endgame content behind a paywall. If you pay for the game you should get the game

I'm not sure I can judge this, I am not a dev or a supporter to most games I play. I am not sure but I think not every dev can get the minimum support necessary to make the game continue to exist.

I just want to be aware when I'm missing out on relevant content because I'm not a supporter.

Depends if it's paywalled forever or just time gates(patreons get new stuff free users get context x releases afterwards)

You should only pay for anything if you like the game and want to support the dev. Paywalls suck - in games and everywhere.

I'm against it. I know devs have to make money somehow but this seems like a bad way to go about it.

I came across games in forums like this, where the dev teasered his game with the first chapter and with really nice renders.
Then it became known, that all the rest of the game would be, and would remain behind a paywall. It didn't end well.
Erverybody started to post, how nice the renders were, and that the game would be big, only to change to dissapointment and the promise to never play anything from that dev again.
So that backfired big time.

Good for them. Hope someone leaks it. If not, whatever.

only to change to dissapointment and the promise to never play anything from that dev again

Why should any dev care what the people pirating their game have to say?

They get literally nothing from it. The only people they are beholden to are the ones giving them fapbux.

And those guys all get the full game and won't care that leeches are seething.

Anyone that thinks people refusing to pirate some game matter to a dev, or should matter to them, has an overblown sense of self importance.
