Unpopular opinion: If I have to play through 60min of your game to even get a hint of sexual content the game is trash

Do you prefer a slow build-up, or do you agree that games should kick things off faster?

You can have a 10 min prologue but after that, you gotta start pumping the gas on scenes. The only exception to this is if you're playing a corruption game, but even then you should have some minor scenes sprinkled in.

Sometimes I agree but more sandbox, having to play an hour to get the blowjob part, that's garbage that's why I don't play sandbox much.

if the story is good then i'm okay with slowburn also example: hillside, summer's gone

I'm okay with slow burns, just not too slow. One example of a game I know that started out slowly is Another Chance. It was a few updates till you actually fucked one of the characters.

If somebody made an action game that's devoid of any exciting content in the first hour, people would rightfully dump on it. Porn games should be no different.

100% depends on the game. if its straight forward and the dev says its a slow burn, fuck yeah. good example imo is mirror mine. w certain fetishes too it needs the buildup (like incest) otherwise its generally shit and seems super rushed. ur sisters not just gonna automatically fuck u just cuz u started the game xd

Agreed. Slow-paced games are completely fine by me, but you need to at the very least tease your players. Perhaps showing off some side-characters if you want to hold back on main characters.

fr. tbf tho most good (incest) games do this...u fuck sm random cousin the dev pulled out of their ass, or a friend of ur sister

I prefer slow burns. But only if there's a satisfying build up.
A lot of "slow burn" games is just a lot of constant denial and no actual progress, development, or growth.

Jump into the "action" within the first 10–15 minutes. (after that can slow down again but theres just so much out there nowadays that you need to distinguish if its worth your time)
Which leads into devs:
- setting up a default girlfriend
- having weird wanking fantasies
- having erotic dreams
While the first can have a purpose in the story, the other two add little. Personally, I play these games to be titillated. If I just want to see some fucking, I'll watch porn.

Just like everything a healthy mix is where you find the peak. Rushing into banging just leaves me bored but we all know games where the action never comes

I think either is fine, but the game should be clear up front, ideally in the blurb/synopsis for it, that it's a slow burn (and maybe give you an idea of playtime to get to first sex). Doing that keeps the slow burners happy, and it gives fair warning to the quick payoff crowd that this isn't for them.

If you are going to do a slow burn though, it does need to have some progression, and not the "you can have sex when you've earned $1000, oh, and you earn $20 a game day" type of progression. Proper story progression.

I agree on tutorials though, they need to be quick and at the time I need them. I don't want to learn about a game mechanic I'm not going to use for another three hours right at the start, tell me about it just before I use it for the first time. Also introduce complex mechanics gradually, don't make me use them all right from the start (unless you are doing some sort of "New Game+" mode for returning players).

It really depends on the game and characters' interactions, but I get where you're coming from. Sometimes I don't mind a slow build-up and actually prefer it that way since it usually means a better payoff, but usually, I wish they would finally do the deed

Don’t get me wrong, I love a good story and world-building, but when a game spends hours on tutorials, exposition, or slow setups, it can be frustrating.

Personally, I think games should:
  • Jump into the "action" within the first 10–15 minutes. (after that can slow down again but theres just so much out there nowadays that you need to distinguish if its worth your time)
  • Introduce mechanics naturally as you play, rather than overwhelming players with long tutorials.
It’s fine to have a rich story or deep mechanics, but hooking players early is so important. Some of my favorite games grab you right away and keep you invested without making you sit through hours of setup.
What’s your take on this? Do you prefer a slow build-up, or do you agree that games should kick things off faster? I’d love to hear your thoughts and examples of games that do this well (or not so well).
I dont think this is an unpopular opinion lol

I would say it depends very heavily on the game. If you are going into a game for a quick one and done then I agree that it should cut to the chase, and I also think that some games would do well to have at least a teaser of sorts for some of the scenes and then go back to slow burning. But I also definitely feels there is a good argument for some games focusing more on a character buildup over a long time, but those can be harder to justify and pull off, thus making it a popular opinion to have sexy stuff early.

In general I'd rather have story over sex. I don't mind if it's 1, 2 or however many hours, as long as the story is good and keeps me playing, I'm fine with it.

I don't mind a slow build up but I hate when they throw a bunch of side skanks at you, give you unskippable/unavoidable sex scenes so the dev can say that there's actual sex in the game while dragging out the main girls stories as long as possible.

If the story and characters are good then I prefer slower, so things can develop more naturally. Going too quick can just skip a lot of interesting stuff (and in some genres can remove most of the point). Though occasionally it can make sense and work well to move quickly.
However I do understand why they generally end up with sex scenes really quickly, especially with the way these games are typically developed episodically. (Though I don't like some of the random 'fantasy' and 'dream' stuff that gets randomly tossed in on some games just to meet quota. It generally doesn't fit, and I often find it off putting.)
