And in engineering -- no mistakes in notes that way ( am can look a LOT like pm if you are tired ) Though in the days before digital clocks the old 24 hour analog ones were a bit confusing, now some kids can not even read a 12 hour analog clock

Even to this day, I still get the time wrong sometimes when I'm saying am and pm, because it never felt right for me to go from "12 am" to "1 am" instead of "1 pm"
