i would not say that it angers me, but i will say it makes me view the devs who do it as total cowards. nowadays you cannot even use the "cuz patreon" excuse, you got many options to go with. same goes for devs who toss smolls into their porn games, but do not use them (like at all), and just have them be there for whatever stupid reason.

Story wise the MC could go around adopting kids and romancing them

That's half-siblings though, not step-siblings. The former are blood related, the latter aren't. Unless it's interpreted to include step-siblings?

No, because we all know it exists in these games in name only. It allows the devs to get away with content that would otherwise be demonetized. The same thing happens in porn. You don’t see “real” incest on any of the mainstream porn sites because of the stigma attached to it. So…. Everyone is a step this and step that.

Yes. Step-incest is not incest. It is just about fucking anybody not related by blood and a weak try to suggest some form of relation. Pretty harsh words, I know. I also know this is about either the creator not liking incest or reaching the maybe many players who are not into incest at the cost of losing the maybe few players who share my opinion. So if step-incest is not an essential part of a good story to make sense while it would not otherwise, then it is a good idea to make the type of incest configurable to reach both types of players.
