Animated or not?

While I do appreciate animations there are a lot of older gamers that have the choppy almost still frame animations that are then sped up which I feel like they would genuinely become better if they just removed them from the scenes completely.

I prefer games with animations...it would be boring if there weren't any or there are generic pictures

yes I prefer it but without get too

Animation is a huge advantage to me. I only try non animated if the art seems really pleasing

Animated is always better if done right.

Animation is a yes, but not a make or break for me. Sound is what really adds more for me

I'm not a fan of animations in games mostly because they tend to freeze the game.

Yep, animated is preferred, but not absolutely required. The better the story the more the graphics can be forgiven.

Yes. Animated req drops as story quality increases. Hard to find games that are good at both.

Animated >> stills.
I do however find it quite annoying when a game is humongous in size.

I agree somewhat with you. I've had that happen to me on a few games. After resetting a couple of times I usually just trash the game. I appreciate the ones that don't give me any problems though.

Animated generally helps a ton, but when it's those awfully animations that are just like 10 frames that jankily go in a row it hurts the quality overall. If you can't get a real animation, just leave it at pictures, IMO.

Mix of it depends and indifference. Honestly don't care if the game has animation or not, as long as the visuals look good and the story is interesting. Otherwise, I find games w/ animation as a bonus.

Animation is welcome as long as participants don't move like robots i.e. when it's done right.

Animated, especially since animations are progressing day by day

Animations are great when they're at least decent, but I've played a few VNs where the animations were so atrociously bad I couldn't even keep playing, and at that point going no animations would have been better. I get that a dev has to start somewhere to get better, but you need to make animations on the side until they get good enough that they at least don't drag down the experience completely.

And some devs have totally decided their dev time is better spent not doing animations and I totally respect that and it actually makes sense. Grandma's House is maybe the best example, dev puts out consistent quality updates for how many years now? Obviously they've made the right choice for them.

animated is preferred, but I guess there is nuance to the art style, and if (in the case of a game) they only have one animation in many images making it stick out. Then I could prefer if the whole thing was not animated just for consistency.

Generally a big fan of animation, so yeah, with animations

Gotta have animations, and sound for me to enjoy.
