Genetically speaking, sibling and (arguably) cousin incest is not a good idea, especially when it continues for a couple of generations.

Which is why it's generally speaking not allowed, and in countries where it is allowed, marriage is often still forbidden.

Child abuse is one thing, but that can happen in other types of power relationship (e.g. teacher - student) as well. This is also a taboo but not as bad as incest.

I was playing a couple of incest games the other day and I found myself thinking about how it's weird that most incest games have to be censored you have to either patch them or redefine the relationships when you start the game. Now obliviously I know that most crowdfunding platforms have standards and regulations the creators must abide by, but I think it's weird that they allow other games with taboos that are way worse than incest to be supported on their platforms. The reason is very simple. Big organizations with a lot of members or money have defined incest, rape, and force in very broad terms and forced payment systems to remove any content that fits those definitions. That's why consensual things like rough sex are censored at places that also censor teenage characters or incest but allow pee and violence. If there was a big organization that did the same for violence or drugs, those would be censored too. It used to be hard to make games that had drugs in them.

I agree. There are also weird disclaimers like "every character is at least 900 years old". Still there are more than enough social justice warriors that don't care about disclaimers at all and just report everything that doesn't fit their dream of how the world should be. I already stated in another tread that I don't think step-incest is incest. None of this sites censor it because they want to, they do it because the payment processors aka Visa/Mastercard/PayPal tells them to and they have no choice but to obey what they say and newer platforms that might have less censorings, they will slowly do it too until they will be on line with the rest. And that's still the only reason we still have wars today, patriotism(soft religion) that blinds people judgement and thinking they do the right thing when they are the bad guys.

There's some science to suggest, I believe, that there's a mild natural aversion that prevents a lot of people being attracted to others who you grow up with. The societal component is probably bigger though.
