Funnily enough, the days it was the cheapest, were before release day. (at least over here in EU)
Pre-ordered it for 499€, and it's impossible to find it cheaper today even on sales ... (from release and for 2 years, was unavailable or only through scalpers at double the price. Then, when it became available again, they increased base price)
Was ready to swap to pro version this fall ... before they announced pricing. Really a shame. We're very close to double the price of base console, 4 years later.

So I decided to stick to base PS5 and keep the money for the Switch 2.

I actually never played any of the Mario games other than the arcade ones - Original, Donkey Kong Jr (where Mario was the bad guy) and 3, where he was a beekeeper. Except one time on my cousin's console the original Mario Brothers one. Only console I ever had was Atari 2600, and none were made for. Next thing was a Commodore 64 from 1985. Nothing else until first modern computer Sep 2004.

If you have the chance, I would recommend the Odyssey, I really liked this one
Anyways, you can always have emulators
