Abandoned VN Ren'Py Our Island [S2-S2_0.01a1][Anonymous Dev]

Sad, that game looked promising, I hope dev will come back someday... 😢

When I saw it was back, I thought dev had changed his mind and finished it.

lol I know right? Not very anonymous when a dev's name is right in the AVN title itself.
I believe it had to become that because 13 deleted his account here which used to be listed as owner

To be honest, I’m actually surprised that this happened by looks of it really quick and the fact that the developer look like he or she had great plans for the games that they were making it was a real surprise and to be honest it really had potential because the graphics solid the story was a right. The character models looked good

A real shame, I was really looking forward to a continuation of this, a lot of interesting characters and a great setting.

Oh well, after playing AVNs for 15 years or so, my porn consumption is 90% self-produced AI porn nowadays. No one there to tell me that this arrangement of pixels is illegal. And I even get Hollywood stars and famous singers to star in my porn, lol. 15 years from now, AI-produced videos are probably doable on a decent consumer rig. People would still pay for porn, for the creative ideas they themselves lack or just for the fact that you can't surprise yourself with your own story. Still, I assume once videos (or interactive stories) can be produced so easily, many people will share that stuff freely. Not the illegal stuff of course, but AI can easily change the age of characters or whether or not she looks like nobody in particular or like the future female president of the states...

Hell probably the illegal stuff too, especially if distributed hosting also becomes a thing. While copyright law is still a thing it's now much harder to enforce and most people ignore it if you are an individual not worth sending an DMCA notice to (if one is foolish to begin with and doesn't use a logless VPN so they can get your physical address), so LE now mostly ignores it for simple lack of funding and manpower if you just dl a pirated movie or whatever and only goes after the big fish like Kim Dotcom. I imagine even the illegal AI will be as easy to find as a torrent magnet link of a movie is now.

Everything was good and the next and future updates were mapped out, but after the Westy fiasco you can't really blame anyone for packing it up.

Australian government is absolutely mental, easily tied for the worst in the world right beside the corrupt and cartels. Absolutely wild to me that anyone would willingly stay there after the scamdemic handling.
Canada and South Korea have flirted with going off the deep end in as well, but not quite.

Hopefully 13 & crew are doing well, I've been out of the loop for a bit.

Have to say I started to get fed up with this game, and eventually gave up and deleted it. I get that many enjoyed it, but for me abandonment is no loss.

I think you need to elaborate a bit on that.

I didn't find it boring at all.

I do get that at the point the story is in, the writer may experience writers block, but if it were up to me I'd have taken the time to just work out all the existing relationships to their logical conclusions. It would not be rocket science. The difficult bit would be what would happen afterwards, when they get rescued or something.

Why would they want to be rescued? There's that girl there who's been living there for nearly 100 years and looks to be in her early teens. This seems like a good place to be. :)

The island was basically a black hole from a time standpoint. From everyone's pov on the island time just moved faster everywhere else off of it. The WW2 girl (forgot her name) was still 17 and thought it was 1945, so it wasn't like she was actually 96 and still looked good for her age, from her pov 17 years was 17 years (or however long she was marooned there). Just another reason it sucks this is abandoned. Who knows what was planned, maybe they were gonna spend their whole lives there and watch the sun die in a few decades for them but 5B years for everyone else (of course with that kind of time dilation everyone would fry from sunlight getting doppler shifted into nasty shit like gamma rays and the sun would be mostly invisible, but realistic details like that often get ignored in sci-fi like H.G. Wells' stuff). Maybe it was a bit less extreme than that and they end up rescued after a decade their time but in the 22000's or something. Irrc when the MC knocked up Cindy at the resort before ending up on the island she was like 11-12 or so, but only a few days passed there while she aged 15 years or so in B2S (where that MC was fucking the other MC's ~15yo daughter from that 1-time hookup in a cross-over), so time was moving at least around 2000x slower or so on the island (or faster from their pov), so rescued after a year and it's 4024ish (at least according to the Gregorian calendar that probably won't even be used anymore by then, "English" no longer recognizable, new viruses around that they all have 0 immunity to, and all sorts of other annoyances far worse than a few hours of jet lag that will probably make them all wanna go back to the island).

No specific reason. Some games look promising, but then they stop grabbing me with the storyline, I don't crave the next update, I find I'm just playing it for the sake of it. Some books are the same. It's called Personal Choice.

Yeah the timing where it was paused was definitely unfortunate .

I personally don't really think there was grandiose overarching story planned but it would have been nice to know what direction he was going to go with it. Probably could have reached a nice conclusion in three good sized updates.

And worst case but still likely scenario.. "It was all a dream..." :ROFLMAO:
