Can confirm, know plenty of americans, largely my own family, and they're not that bright at all.

The US public education system is designed to churn out mindless drones for factory work. This already mediocre system has been further undermined by political propaganda changing the required material, a lawsuit happy culture that will ruin schools that enforce discipline, mandatory testing that eats up large portions of the school year to determine funding, the teacher's union making it nearly impossible to fire any teacher that doesn't touch a child, and parents dumping the responsibility to raise their kids on the school. US private schools are some of the best in the world, but even homeschooled kids perform substantially higher than those who go through the public US school system.

Uhm. Okay. I hate to break this to you, but coffee can range from a PH of about 4.5-6.5, depending on type, brewing method, and whether you add creamer. Brew it cooler, down around 195F and you get less of the acids. But Mt. Dew is down around 3. And just in case you don't know, the lower the number the more acidic it is. I did have to give up Mt. Dew and other sodas for the same reasons mentioned.

But maybe it's something other than the acids in it that mess you up. Food intolerance or something.

isnt the acidity due to the carbonic acid? can get rid of that with a good shake (obviously go easy on opening till pressure equalizes)

the whole education clusterfuck is the result of a decades long (and ironically shortsighted) multipronged push by the wannabe ruling class who decided its easier to gut education than make policies that would be accepted by educated voters. as one politician in particular has said outright "we love the uneducated" if you are not taught history you cant see and recognize the warning signs that preceded so many failed states in the past. its no different from a mechanic trying to charge you for headlight fluid if you don't know how cars work.
