What would a dev have to do in a new update to make you stop playing a really good game?

Converting the game from Renpy to Unity just to be able to play house by placing furniture. I will never understand why someone would turn a perfectly fine VN into The Sims.

Let's just say that.. if a game used to be found in LC's restricted zone, but an update makes it .. ''suitable for Fuck95'' .. that's a pretty big indication that i'm no longer interested. :)

And in general, if over time the quality of the updates just goes down the drain; story gets lame, repetative or boring, or the scenes become cookie cutter. You can notice that the care is out of if basically.
This! also cuck shit, unavoidable gay things, or a sudden switch to "pick a character, this is no longer a true harem". also unnecessary main character death (especially love interests) for shock value. or as previously mentioned in the thread, switches to AI "art", while its fun to look at in a vacuum, it has no place in games.

switching up the fetishes to something I'm not interested in would do it but that's pretty rare

mostly, if an update takes forever and then is boring, I might not bother downloading the next one

I would much rather have largish updates every 2 or 3 months than minuscule ones every two weeks - Hit me with a 5 minute or less update more than once and its bye bye

they would have to change so much that the "really good" game stops being really good. I do not think there is a certain thing - some games would need a lot of changes others maybe only a little.
(something like removing all the girls / replacing them with dudes is not really just one change)

yeah hate that too

As many have said before me, adding in new unavoidable fetishes that were not expected and happen to be turn-offs for me (not that there are many that would fit this bill).

But also moving away from fetishes that I started playing the game for in the first place.

Adding unavoidable NTR, gay and futa stuff that was not announced from the beginning.

Oh yeah, getting scared from what happened to a certain dev and aging up the lolis.

1. When I've played through a really big part of the game, and after an update, the old saves don't work and I have to play through everything again
2. When the character models change a lot
3. When the game adds unnecessary grinding or changes the game mechanics.

  • Adding content that doesn't match my interests without the option to skip / bypass / shortcut it
  • Removing content without reason
  • Nerfing a game / removing game mechanics "to make it interesting for casual gamers"

#1 = Adding a TAG I hate that wasn't in the planned TAGS list. If the dev did NOT have a planned TAGS list, I'll consider just skipping that content.
#2 = As per the OP: "Psychic Gaming". Ex: In Release 1-3, you're asked a trivial "buy this" or "buy that" with no warnings. In Release 25... it matters.
#3 = Removing TAGS to stay on Patreon rather than use Subscribestar or ANY other form of income. (Yes, you'll still make more money, but it won't be mine)

If quality drops like its being rushed to get it done or going back and removing/changing things I enjoyed about the game.

If it wouldn´t be with the final update, I would have stopped to play Erotica. To change the most lovely female in game completely, is a no go for me.

Make the most interesting character die and the most useless one take center stage

doing some shitty changes or adding update after update after update with almost none new changes/scenes/plot development

When a new update, after a long time of waiting, is a "technical" update. Something weird like "we changed the code so updates will take half the time now" and still updates are released once each semester, that is a major red flag.
