I've recently finished Outer Wilds and wow... I have never experienced a game like that before and I don't know if I ever will again. The ending literally gave me goosebumps. It sucks I'll never be able to experience it for the first time again and even more so because there's virtually no replayability. I personally liked this game because it was small enough to not get overwhelmed by side objectives or a massive open world environment, while the story organically drove you to want to discover more.

What have you guys played recently that is quick, but still feels very full?

Its older, but doing a Witcher 3 replay again. Like for the 1,000,000 time
You know, I've probably had this game suggested to me 1,000,000 times. Maybe it's time I finally get around to it

I'm a Witcher fan but I still haven't played the expansions of TW3, I was supposed to do so with HalkHogan's "The Witcher 3 HD Reworked Project NextGen Edition" but it was delayed.. it's finally coming out in November though!

Graphhics are great as they are. But with this it's worth a replay. Again

I recommend Firewatch. Good story, not too long, very nice to play. It's not as good as Outer Wilds but it's still an awesome game.

Been playing Max Payne again, looking to beat it to move on to the others. Pretty fun, a quick fix if you want some singleplayer gun play.

Also beat Arkham Origins for the first time a while back. Honestly way better than I expected since I always heard it was the weakest entry of the series. Only real negative I could think of was that it felt like a carbon copy of Arkham City, but I love that game to bits so if anything it adds to it.

I'll add my standard answer of 'Icarus'. It's a survival/builder that can be played solo or with a small group and is good either way.

Another option would be 'The Long Dark' even though they have been working on the SECOND story for over a year now, and STILL haven't finished the original story. It IS good, and with the open world bits it gives extra options for paying.

Just a thought

Play Katana Zero, it's short, intense and cool as fuck.

Well Doom+Doom II popped up on my torrents page the other week and have been playing that since. Shooting mutants always makes my day :)

If we're talking about the first one, I'm going to say it had some frustrating platforming section in the later chapters. easily the worst parts of the game was the platforming. Like the one with the cultist boss and the last location. I just played that game months ago too. I feel old now thinking back to the PS2 era of gaming I enjoyed as a kid.

is another good from that era. The MC may have been based on actor Vin Diesel or the Riddick character he portrayed.
ahhh og xbox, ps2 era good times 😭

Yeah, I remember back when I was a kid I stopped playing the first Max Payne when I reached a level I couldn't figure out how to proceed platforming. Weakest part of some of the old action games.

A few years back I was playing through Jedi Outcast on the hardest difficulty, and bullshit pre-aim by the AI aside, the shitty platforming was the toughest part of the game.

If you haven't played it Control isn't too long and has an interesting story. Dishonored 1 and 2 are mechanically great and have really good worldbuilding.

If only newer gamers would experience that era and see just how downhill gaming has gone. I miss those simple and fun days of gaming. I consider that generation part of the golden era of gaming.

I still get roms from places like CDRomance and Archive.org

Definetly! But play it with the DLC's. Really worth it
Blood and wine expansion just about the best DLC ever

a game I actually like to replay every now and then which is probably overlooked is Mafia 3, not the best polished game out there, a little repetitive, but the story and the era it takes place in make up for it.

I thought Cocoon was genuinely superb. Excellent environmental and visual story-telling (no spoken dialog) and can be completed in about 5 hours. I loved every minute of it!

It's on Game Pass if you have a subscription.
