I was aware of his death, yes. It's quite sad, I think he had a long, fulfilling career and life ahead of him.

Japanese censorship law are pretty out date and have never been reviewed for last 100 years or so. It was designed to sensor genitals due to the western puranic society who expressed their shock against traditional Japanese art, which was very risky according to them. I don't remember seeing any gore censored. As for USA. I have no idea their rule and laws. It seems very conflicting and to be there to confuse rather than help. I don't i know about Japans international trade laws. I expect they sensor what is required by the international community rather than just what USA suggest. I guess you can google search to find out. I got no idea. yes, it still happens today. In some ways getting worse. USA is just nonsense rules but this is how it is.

For US laws, the first thing to know is that Constitutionally protected speech is largely untouchable by the government (it's more complicated but that's enough detail for this explanation). The Supreme Court first ruled that porn is a form of obscenity, which isn't Constitutionally protected speech, so the government could do whatever it wanted in regulating it, and defined porn as something solely appealing to the "prurient interest" (to separate it from e.g. biology textbooks that include pictures of genitals). This created a situation where anything with even a little artistic merit to somebody was protected speech. So the current state is that strictly porn can be regulated (and is technically largely illegal under federal statutes to disseminate), but if it's got anything artistic like a story it's protected. That's why there was a huge surge of "plumber shows up to fix pipes, screws lonely housewife" porn, it's technically a love story so it's protected. As a practical matter nobody enforces the laws against dissemination even against porn that probably violates it.

Nope not a Lions fan. I'm a fan of sports teams no where near me. I'm in Washington state. I can't stand any team from here. Especially since the seahawks have won 1 superbowl and everyone around here still acts like it was just yesterday when that happened. The Seattle Storm have more championships then the male teams around here combined and they act like the storm don't exist. I'm a 49ers fan. Have been since I was a kid. Atlanta Braves fan since I was a kids. Michigan State fan for 20 years. Vegas Golden Knights fan since the started. Manchester United fan for 30 years. Uconn fan in both men and women's basketball since high school.

That's not exactly like this. There are cases were the law has been enforced. Some that come to my memory are the Two Girls One Finger case and a guy importing a Comic Lo number and being catch in the customs.
