A truer statement has never been said about companies. It's all about minimising costs and maximising profits.
Unfortunately, the majority of people involved couldn't care less about 'rural idiots' and the issues they have. They'll be too busy spending time in their 5th mansion making fun of the people that have to follow their stupid new rules. Now while I can understand the rationale and the theory behind this idea, what it does is not factor in what will be some of the real world consequences. It will be great in urban areas where speed limits are fairly consistent from street to street but when you start heading to main highways or rural areas it is going to cause gridlock and bring traffic to a halt in certain areas as there are several junctions where you will have to try going from 0 up to 60 very quick in order to actually get out onto the road without risking causing an accident.
As someone who now lives in a rural area, one of the biggest issues here is that large trucks use our county road as a short cut, and their tires tear up the roads to a disgusting degree and the roads are only fixed like once a year with the most minimum effort required rather than really fixing the issues. We also have damage caused by an accident a couple months back that all it would need wouod be a simple one day fix at max, but instead they just put uo caution signs and they haven't been back since. They even put one if the signs in front if one of our fence gates and the wind blew it over and I doubt they know or care.
For most of these people that have the power to do things, they only truely care about something if it effects them personally.
