In a sentence or two, let us know what you think is why the word compromise almost does not exist anymore. This is not about politics. It is about how we deal with people ourselves.
Now that is funny....There's only one objectively true answer:
None of the people who disagree with me will admit they're wrong!
Personally, I talk things over with people that seem to be open to it and have a clue; if they can't have a discussion without going ballistic, then I walk away and ignore them - they'll have to experience something pretty damn awful (no, getting the wrong coffee order doesn't qualify) before their minds will be open to real discussion. Even then, we may still disagree, but at least we'll be civil. At some point, children started getting raised to believe that they could always win, that everybody should get equal results (or at least nobody should get results better than what you get), "time outs" instead of real chastisement - and parents that didn't even carry through on time outs when their little darlings started to scream - and the delusion that no opinion matters more than your own. Somewhere along the line, a whole generation of brats got raised and they started raising their own brats. Now everything that you don't agree with is racist or some kind of phobic and if you don't get what you want, you're gonna scream your head off until you get it.
I think another issue was the whole "safety" push: the truly stupid and truly clueless used to take themselves out before they could reproduce, or they did something really fucking stupid and learned from it and ended up being better for it. Instead, what we have now is idiots reproducing and brats with the mentality of toddlers running around in the bodies of adults, never wanting to take responsibility for their actions, but wanting to have everything they desire without much (or any) effort.
We simply have a higher ratio of fucktards than we had in the past and we basically have to hit bottom as a society before anyone will learn better (and we're pretty close).

You are OVIOUSLY wrong. It's been over a decade now since anyone online has agreed to that.
Nowadays it's either I'm right your wrong and we will never agree to anything.
Can't really say why but it is what it is nowadays, and doubt it will change the other way again.![]()
Your first paragraph in my opinion is dead-on.At some point, children started getting raised to believe that they could always win, that everybody should get equal results (or at least nobody should get results better than what you get), "time outs" instead of real chastisement - and parents that didn't even carry through on time outs when their little darlings started to scream - and the delusion that no opinion matters more than your own. And I was not trying to be political. I just wondered if it was just me or does no one agree to disagree anymore, and when did it stop... OF course, like everything else in the world someone will twist a honest question or observance into a political problem.Anyway just a heads up politics are not allowed on the forum and this thread might get locked or deleted.
Forget that it is peanut butter cookies... Not oatmeal raisin or chocolate chip. You are OVIOUSLY wrong.
Sadly, I fear you are correct. My hope is that we can find a way back to agreeing to disagree before things become so extreme that a tragedy occurs that forces the world to change (whether for better or worse I don't know).
Just a thought.
P.S. Anyone who thinks Oatmeal Raisin cookies are superior is WRONG and should be denied the JOY to be found in GLORIOUS Chocolate Chip Cookies.![]()
Nope, peanut butter.Well I love both Oatmeal Raisin cookies and Chocolate Chip Cookies. So we can both agree this time.![]()
Love peanut butter as well. So once again we agree.Nope, peanut butter.
Well I agree to disagree this time. Look at that it's easy.I disagree that "let's agree to disagree" went away.
And you can't change my mind, bucko!
So let's agree to disagree.
