But if you read Mr. Tearson post earlier in the thread, it says clearly like this:

It doesn't say that it only applies to AI, so I interpret it as applying to all images.
As it is written, we are not allowed to post anything that even looks like something real, not even a coffee cup.
If there is any clarification in the link with rules, I don't know because I don't have authorization.

I know it's about how you interpret the word realistic.
But as it is written with that warning, I dare not read between the lines and post a cat lying to a sofa, because both the cat and the sofa are real things.

TLDR = They can ban cat on a sofa because they're the mods and they're stressed. Sucks. Overcompensating? Yup. Let's wait and see when it settles.

Fair point. I don't know how to answer with absolute certainty, but I'm gonna quote the rules verbatim:

Images of real persons, pornographic or otherwise, or porn stars, are not permitted in posts or profile elements. (Memes may be considered an exception.)

Notice: MAY BE. i.e. you can post real stuff... but at any point, the Mods can decide = No real people. No more memes. Or just say to ONE poster = FOR YOU... no more memes.

So, by inference, your cat on a sofa, probably ok... BUT... as per the above... without any notice whatsoever... the Mods can say nope. Kind of like a rule that says you can't walk your geese on main street on Sundays. (which I've read in a law book in a country I was in decades ago) Arcane. Weird. But it's there in case they need to use it.

Now, if this didn't help. I'm sorry. But the above is posted in the rules section is basically a "I can ban anything to save this site." and the mods are JUST as confused as us. They probably don't want to verbatim tell us the ID and Posts from the site hoster because hotheads like me would likely contact them, yell at them and make it all worse.

Personally: I'd go with stick to PG to AA memes, or just plains text posts till it settles. You'll have to do what you're comfortable with.

I suppose that's the issue when something like this starts to gain users and a higher profile. When it's small and 'niche', for want of a better word, it can fly somewhat under the radar. The more traffic it attracts, the more some subset of people will want to cause it sufficient trouble to get it shut down and some will want to try and reduce the size of the community to try and prevent it reaching that point. Weirdly it's the same concern I have for SubStar. With Patreon going through it's various purges and driving some creators to SS, then the profile of SS grows as does the risk that some group or other will attempt to bring some sort of pressure to bear.

It's likely that SS will restrict it's content soon, assuming it hasn't already started.
Then a new site will pop up.
Apparently, we need a rolling system of sites / payment methods.

Oh... and a class action lawsuit against banks, credit card companies and puritanicals for restricting content and payment options.
We'll probably get that right after we get our unicorns...

well lots of those readheads getting purged and barely anyone post anything anymore so you dont miss much or anything at all for the moment.

The purge likely won't be as bad as originally feared. The rules have been streamlines and clarified. While likely nobody is completely happy, it seem to be a fair compromise based on the current situation. I was rarely super realistic, so I figure my pics are around 75-90% safe, depending on where the line falls. Odds are posting is going to be a bit slow while people get comfortable with the new rules, and some people will leave over it, which is never good. But hopefully new people will come to fill those voids on their own unique ways.

And you can't buy a Tesla by ardently posting on a Tesla forum, and if you buy a Tesla from somewhere else you aren't potentially exposing yourself to risks of less reputable people trying to get access to your personal data. It's not an apples to apples comparison at all. Again, I understand the reasoning, but it's still frustrating.

yeah, only time will tell. till then we can only wait and hope that someone wont get triggered by something and boot us off.
i don't mind the wait or playing by the rules. which can be pain when they are basically changing on daily bases and you find out about changes when some mod or whom ever is in your face and even then you don't know what was it. i am not fan of that to say the least.
