I know that feeling. Used to be real bad for me where I was literally up to 5 or 6 when I had to be up by 7.I feel ya'. I have apnea and a very active brain. After I was diagnosed, for about a month I got the best sleep of my life and fell asleep fast. After I "caught up" my brain went "oh - you're okay now - OVERDRIVE!!!!!!!"
I'm in the US Central time zone. You'll see me here sometimes until 3am my time simply because my brain won't shut down and lying in bed only makes it worse. Sometimes two fingers and some reading will speed things along, but can't rely on that.
Just lying awake, thoughts racing, spiraling, chasing each other - then the glance at the clock and the "I need to go to sleep" thought hammering into the skull.
Sometimes days with no sleep, completely exhausted, but just couldn't fall asleep. If I tried, lightning bolt through the body, instantly awake.
My worst record was somewhere between 72 - 96 hours without sleep. Time got completely muddled in my head, everything was an irritant, just 3-4 days of no sleep.
Have you ever goon to a sleep therapist? Are things better for you now?
