Depends, if the story is good and the art is well made, than it doesn`t matter if it is 3D or cartoon.

Both 3dcg and catoon-like 2dcg.
Each of these options has its own disadvantages and its own advantages.
And yes, these characters are impossible to resist:)

3DCG.

AI is still too far from being good enough. Quite often AI rendering of faces reminds me of Nagilum:

Most important, I rarely see AI-generated characters with 6-8 fingers and toes now:) Often there were also extra joints on the hands....

3D - either well done HS2 or Daz3D. Some AI is okay, but a lot of it is just plain creepy.

I much much much prefer more realistic 3D models, but there are notable exceptions like Our Red String, for example.

I started with more cartoon styles. Summertime and the Trainer games. But my tastes have moved to more DAZ style imagines.

3dcg in high quality is always a pleasure to see. SSP is a great example that's very aesthetically pleasing for the renders alone. I love the first few renders of the game with the daughter sleeping with hair across her face. Simply gorgeous.

Though I can also appreciate honey select, if the characters are customized enough like in Harem Hotel. In most honey select games however I find all characters the same looking and see all the too well known 5 templates being regurgitated together with the ugly af misproportioned default bodies.

Koikatsu has never looked good to me

Cartoony styles I just find harder to get into, though they can be good for what they are, even if less exciting in comparison. Akabur's works are all beautifully illustrated, there's nothing bad to be said about that.

The style doesn't matter too much to me. Either is fine as long as it is decently done.

I like the realistic style a little more just because its cool to see an anime character in that style.
