Original was Brian De Palma directed. A man known for excess. I've seen Scarface, and i have seen The Untouchables and Mission Impossible so yeah, i get his thing is over the top.

I'm against remakes in general and sequels, especially long after, too. That not only applies to movies but games too.

What about you made a film with no budget and then years later you can achieve the scenes you wanted so you tack them on. Its what George Lucas did with Return of the Jedi, the Special Editions and the prequels. I'd say there are at least three Star Wars pictures derivative of episode IV, Return of the Jedi, Phantom Menace but a lot less so than say the Force Awakens which is almost a beat for beat remake. Last Jedi sort of is a subverted Empire remake, Rise of Skywalker remakes ROTJ elements and even adapts parts of the Dark Empire comic. Its so watered down now.

I would love to see a sequel to DREED(2012) not to mistake with "Judge Dredd" (1995) which was so bad I don't remember anything about it, made in the same style as the original and without today's bullshit.

"Don't remake good movies. Remake bad ones."

Dredd is great! I would hope they also film it in 3D!

I watch the ramake of robocop and liked it OK, but I think now I hate it. It's really the stupid hollywood mentality of making something "gritty" and "realistic" when the original worked perfectly fine.

The remake of A Star is Born a few years back was good. If they do it, it should be a modern setting rather than set still in the time the original was (if it was a "modern" setting for the time.) Problem is they usually fuck things up.

The key to the best remakes is to ignore what made the original good. If you try to follow the original, the result is 100% bland and uninspiring. If you do something different it's 90% horrible trash, 10% actually worthwhile movies.
