Whats a sequel to a game that you loved that couldn't live up to the original

I love Jeijei's Harem - Calm Before the Storm for its strange charm. Most porn games are pure wish fulfillment, and in this case this even extends to the main character's day job as a software developer. I think the audience for this game is already quite limited -- namely to those who appreciate (or at least don't mind) that all characters are on the autism spectrum. The sequel Jejei's Harem - A New Home (not yet on this site) still has the same charm, so it could have had exactly the same audience. Unfortunately it switches gameplay from pure, almost kinetic visual novel to sandbox, limiting the audience further. Sure, some people prefer sandbox, but I think it's a minority position and certainly not mine. You can also see this reflected in the drop of ratings on a certain other site from 2.8 (very respectable for a game with such stiff amateurish graphics!) to 2.0.
For a regular gaming it’s has to be fallout 4 such a massive disappointment that to this day I look upon and think what to hell were they thinking. I’d also mention dragon’s dogma 2 but that was more so due to untapped potential and mismanagement/trust from capcom.
For Adult Games It would have to be corruption of champions 2, this… sequel (this stings to type) feels more and more like a project made to spite players who loved the first game.

A Petal Among Thorns. Even though I would have preferred more than one sex scene the story and dialogue were captivating. A Moment of Bliss just doesn't hit the same. I could have stayed trapped in that cabin forever and been a happy boy.
thats surprising to me i liked a moment of bliss more than petal amongst thorns, i think the aggressive fmc works better later rather than earlier but thats just me
I'll list some older games as examples.

Way of the Samurai 3. I loved the first two and expected great things with the jump to PS3/XB360 but instead of giving us more game they just increased the seize of the maps without adding more content which made it all feel empty. It didn't help that it had no memorable characters either.
Why is that?
To be honest It's a topic that has been beaten to death but if you want to know more look into the Fenexo forums (look at how it is moderated and how the creators interact with fans(COC).) also i hope its okay to mention Fuck95 forums for COC 1/2.
The individual who heads the project (COC 2 who did write for COC 1) has a very notorious history (Blow outs, Rants, Insulting fans (though there was one group who deserved It) and more.) and has a difficult personality.
Axis and Allies. They have released a new version. But in the old one you could play using the units. There is no such option in the new release. But they have added some tihngs. But that you can't even have the option to determine the fight on the battlefield by playing is a major let down. Even if everything else have been improved.
