If I could only have one I'd strongly prefer animation so I voted for that. I think the animation should be the focus, and its unlikely for their to be no still images at all in a VN type project. So its not like still images are bad or unneeded, but just way less important imo.

Good animation > Good stills > Bad stills > Bad animation.

This sums up my feelings pretty well. And depending on how good the stills are and how they're presented, they can be almost as good as good animation.

I like that I can set the pace with stills. Being locked into an unskippable animation is the worst.

I would generally prefer animation, but it usually is more work intensive to create so if by using still images devs can put out content more quickly I am fine with that.

I have played some of those NPC isekai scenarios kind of ero games where you can just play with the NPCs and they don't respond and i must say that one of them caught my attention, a single one of them had animations, not only for the characters breathing as well as for when you touch them, all draw by hand, unfortunately the game was cut short, but still, the best NPC abuse kind of game i ever played, and since none of those have any story i think it serves as a good comparison

I prefer animation, but if the story is good it doesn't matter much.

The reason i find porn games so interesting is the gameplay.
It is one thing to see a woman get corrupted on hanime.tv
