Compare a few of these last pages, to the first few in this thread, and see how much the tone changed from that initial release until now, with what happened here, and HOW it all went down. And I for one can not say I liked what just happened here, it is however out of my control, and I understand why the people reacted the way they they did. With that being said, and although nobody asked for it, I wanna give my take on it, from a poor man's perspective, as the thread had someone, if not rich per se, but definitely someone with "disposable" income give their perspective, and someone I couldn't even come close to, in terms of financial freedom. So here's mine, if you want it.
I probably started out as most of the posters on those first pages, but in the interest of full disclosure, there hasn't been many interactions from my side in this thread, but probably a couple of comments are there. Or maybe they're at the other place, don't know if I started with the game there or here, to be honest, but my posts were generally positive, is what I'm getting at. And I always try to keep it civil, but if someone starts talking smack to me, I will respond in kind if the other party started it. And later down the line, I finally had an interaction with Ricoh himself, it was around the 0.4 release, I think, but the time is not the most essential here. And while it was a mostly positive dialogue, there were some sides to it, that in retrospect now makes more sense, given how we saw things play out here in the end, but honestly I hope that's not the end of it, as I would have preferred the matter to be resolved in a smarter, but also more cordial way.
And what I mean about smarter, is mostly in terms of on the devs side, but also a little bit on the LC community and staff, that both parties could have worked better together, and actually helped the dev make a decision that would be the best solution for him, AND the AVN community scene, because I can tell you this, the way things are going now, based on some of the things I read in this thread that I wasn't aware of, and some things I already knew about, there is but one way to save the AVN community as a whole, otherwise it probably has to go underground to even exist, but money WON'T be part of that model, unless it's all done by private transactions between the dev and customer, and via crypto payments, but as we have already seen, more and more payment processors are dipping out, and trust me, it's not because of wanting to be able keep a squeeky clean image in the pulic for their advertisers.
But I got a little derailed there, so let me get back on track. As I said, I believe there's only one way for the AVN community as a whole to survive, and that's if we stand together, as one, and put our differences aside. Because anyone with eyes, and a working brain, and I mean above basic functions, like to blink, yawn, or take a dump. We can see where this is heading, and it goes beyond just the world of visual novels/adult/porn games, no doubt. And devs stupidly think that to put up a ridiculously high paywall is gonna help, when the initial outlets like Patreon, Itch and eventually also Substar, (You watch and see, it will happen) are closing the door on them? All in the name of keeping their existing, and potential future advertisers happy, which is a lie, by the way. And even IF those outlets wanted to keep you on as a content creator on their platform, how can they, when the payment processors refuse the business of such creators, then what?
And don't think that crypto will be an option forever either, remember that at first, regular banking services laughed at crypto, then changed their tune when they saw that it in fact, HAD potential, then they got on board, but also called out for control of it. And as the saying goes, money talks, and bullshit walks, so what do you think is gonna happen eventually, I mean the signs are already there. Start walking people, because we don't have that kind of money, and you would have to be Elon Musk or Jeff Bezos to even be allowed on the playing field, or someone in that financial class, multi-millionaires, or multi-billionaires. But my point is that the people of extreme wealth, and outlets controlled by the flow of money, sets the schedule, and the common man is currently getting canceled, along with any outlet they had available to brighten their day, or to even improve on their own financial situation.
We have already seen it with YouTube, back in the day, anyone could get monetized, and upload whatever THEY wanted to put up there, with the exception of what would/could be classed as porn, but many things that weren't porn and was allowed although tecnically including nudity, has since been axed from the platform, and also all channels featuring "Conspiracy" content, pretty much. And I also saw the rise of the option to go live from your mobile device, but almost as soon as it was an option, they put it behind what would be the equivalent of a paywall, a subscriber limit of 1000 people or more, is now required to go live from mobile devices, and as someone with less than 150 subs, I don't know how I could reach more people, as they effectively cut me off from the possibility to gain traction. And the irony to that, is that I was getting ready to do a live show with a quiz and a Nintendo classic as a prize to the winner when YouTube changed things again, so you can imagine what a blow that was for me, and probably countless others as well.
But, my point is simple. This, whatever we're supposed to call it, (I call it The Dark Half) goes beyond affecting just one thing in society, and there most definitely is an agenda behind it, and it's not gonna end well for the majority of us (worker bees), as we're just there to vote for the puppets they decide to put in office, pay our taxes, and keep the big machine going, but in reality, we have NO real value to them, you're only as valuable as the measure of your success, and the worthless numbers in your bank account, as all of it can be taken away from you at any point, and it only took them four months to do it to me. Not to mention the fact that they're removing the options we previously had to improve on our financial situation, and more and more of those options, are being removed every day, as we speak. It kinda reminds of that scene with Jobe in 'The Lawnmower Man' where he tries to escape the local system he's in (in VR), but all of the ones he tries, says "Access denied", until finally one of them is shown in green with "Access granted". But with the difference that there won't be such an outcome for the most of us, outside of sheer dumb luck, like winning the lottery.
And now, that interaction I had with Ricoh back then, makes more sense, because at the time I found it odd to say the least, but I didn't fully understand what he was getting at, so that's one reason for not saying anything to him about it, but also because I genuinely don't like being rude to people, if I can avoid it. But he was also talking to me for the first time, a thing in itself to keep in mind, as you can't talk to people you don't know in certain ways before you really know them, but it wasn't like he was outright rude or anything like that, just a little pushy with me, that I should buy the game/support him, when I'm actually on welfare, and has been for quite a while. And now, the little savings I had in my savings account, is also gone, but thank God I had them in the first place at all, it kept me afloat for 4 months longer, and I was able to keep up with the bills as well, because of that money. But due to what was, and still is going on with the welfare office lately, I can only speculate how long I'll be able to keep on top of things before the fat lady sings.
And Ricoh's game is good, so in principle, I don't have an issue with supporting a dev if you like their game, and I have supported at least two devs before, despite being on welfare, albeit my contributions were small, and the longest of the two, was only for two months. But I do take a little bit issue with being pushy as someone in my fiinancial situation, especially when you're talking to them for the first time, and have no insight to what their personal life is really like. And that can serve as a referance here as well, when I say I'm poor, that's no lie, and now my savings are gone too, so I have nothing to fall back on now, if I find myself in a situation where I need some money, whatever that may be. As for Ricoh's motivations, I do understand them from one perspective, but I see his approach as futile, in that sense. (Not in regards to me and our interaction specifically, but in general, just to be clear.) As for possible other motivations, they have already been covered by others here, and beaten to death, I might add, so I see no point in adding fuel to the fire, or beating a dead horse.
But I hope that my post here, is able to convey the bigger problem here, and that it goes far beyond 95 or LC, or any other forum like this, as I believe it's a global issue, and not limited to the world of adult games, and its creators and audience. And I also wanna point out, that I'm no conspiracy theorist either, although I mentioned those type of channels getting axed from YouTube. No, I just call it like I see it, and I think you'd have to be blind, (figuratively speaking) to not see where the world is heading, and that it won't be so good for the most of us regular people, all these changes they are making in the world, because they're not making the world a better place, or increasing our options to succeed, that's for sure. No, quite frankly, it's more the opposite they're doing now, and the best we can hope for, is to be gone, before it gets too bad, in my opinion. Or that we rise up, as one force, and give them hell, because that's what they're turning the world into, especially for the people lowest on the totem pole.
And I could give further examples to prove what I'm saying is facts, but I can't make people believe me if they don't want to, that's impossible. So I won't do that here, and I've rambled on long enough as it is already. But suffice to say, I'm living proof that they can cut you down whenever they want to, and as soon as I knew (understood) that part years ago, I always suspected they would try to bring us to our knees through our money, or lack thereof, and I was right about that too. So in the words of the oracle in The Matrix, or Morpheus about one of the pills, believe what you want, but make up your own damn mind, because this is the time to do it. And don't trust your eyes or ears either, because we've come so far with technology, that we can create just about anything the mind can dream up, but what you see or hear, isn't necessarily the truth anymore, just because you can see or hear it. To quote Sash, in their song 'Mysterious Times' featuring Tina Cousins, "Real, nothing is real. In a world of illusion, you only see what you feel. We're all feeling the change, and we don't know why, choose one direction, just one more time, don't say I'm thinking too much if you see what's behind, and these are mysterious times." (End quote.)

On another note, anyone have the 0.6 version, a link for it, or a save for it? Because my most recent version is 0.5, and I talked to Ricoh about being glad that new version was out, since it had been a while since 0.5 came out, and before I even got to download it, all of this drama happened, and v. 0.7 was posted too. And it might not be an issue, but I have encountered examples of being unable to continue where you left off in a game, if you don't have the version in between, so I just wanna cover all my bases.

The problem is calling the glorified microtransaction a gallery edition when it had content that had the potential to influence the main story in future updates. That's not a fucking gallery edition but a microtransaction and what little content there was didn't seem worth $20
All of his supporters were once part of the public and he's squandering the chance to gain new (At least some) supporters in this behavior
