Yeah I second this. Things have changed quite a bit. Can't say whether it is good, or bad since I haven't had to go through the grind again, but definitely different.

I wonder how easy it was.
When I joined (and as you can see, my account isn't very old), the only requirement I saw was:
“For M+, you need 85 LC and an account that's at least 7 days old.”
I got the LC before reaching the 7 day mark and without any effort. I didn’t even need to spam or anything like that. Once I reached the required LC, I just had to wait. I can’t imagine anything easier than that.
If the goal is to gatekeep, I'm not sure the system works that well, although there's also a very fine line between gatekeeping and frustrating new users.
