hopeing to see a windows port but wont hold my breath
thats good because I dont think its possible to hold your breath for negative 2 weeks

Fun fact: when I first discovered this game on itch.io, there was only the Linux port because Lord Voldy believes that he can't trust Microsoft because he views them as the "big bad" who "wants to get all the data from users like him". Because of that, I asked him about the possibility of creating the Android port. Here's the link in which he responded to me:

On android it keeps giving me an error before it finishes finalizing the app. It says the file is invalid. A Little bit confused.

Interesting looking game, sadly cannot play it officially without a port. Rip Windows. And iv only skimmed but seams that the creator hates windows because it spys on us? Idk. Though iv also read that to port the game on this engine you just click a box. And the creator doesnt wanna. Big sad

Nope. Building a dual PC/Linux distro is the default. The creator had to specifically disable the windows port. He took action to prevent windows from working when normally both windows and linux work with no action required.

pc port is a problem, Dev says to just replace the files from the little pc version download with the big Linux version download. at the same time the Linux Download won't actually finish, it always gets stuck at the end when "finished" so I can't extract any files.

EDIT: managed to finally finish downloading, there seems to be a problem of some kind that prevents the file from finishing, either windows 10 denies it or idk, it just takes a few minutes to finish despite being 100% finished.

now I'm gonna ask, is there a reason PC PORT is missing from the downloads? I don't believe the Dev is lazy to replace the files with copy paste and then just upload the pc port. is this a problem with an upload site? maybe the Dev is out of space/money?, because so far it just doesn't make sense not to have a PC PORT, no Dev would ever do such a thing without a really good reason that involves money.

I posted files earlier for a PC port but I guess the version of the renpy sdk I was using has issues with some peoples Win 11 systems. ( I only use win10 )

As long as you have literally ANY renpy game that works on your computer you can delete the game folder in that game and drag the game folder from Zephyrs Island linux download and play. That is basically what the files I uploaded were (just directly taken from the sdk)

The exe in renpy isnt the game. Its a script interpreter so all exe's are effectively the same. You dont even need to rename the other games exe after swapping the /game folders

I managed to get it to work, I just don't understand why you, a game Dev trying to make money, is so against posting a pc version to make it easier for people. it will take you 10 seconds to copy paste, and idk how long to upload. again... if you don't have enough space because it costs you more then I will understand, otherwise it doesn't make sense for you to "hate" or not give a fuck about pc port which is where most of your money will be coming from.

I can do it myself right now, just share a windows version. I'm not doing it because you clearly have a reason so I'm waiting to hear what is. "it's super easy to just replace the files" is not a good enough reason to windows users which is where most of your money will be coming from. you already seen some angry comments, is it really worth it?

there is no dev tag on my name. im one of the people calling the dev an arse for not doing the simple thing and I posted the files to help other players because its so easy. and the dev cant claim any issue about space. its negligible

It sounds like you are quite confused about a few things. You do not seem to understand what seronis is saying, or the process.

First, seronis is not the dev, and they are agreeing with you. They are saying the dev SHOULD but is NOT doing this.

Also, you seem to have misunderstood the process. The DEV does NOT need to do the "/game" copy/paste process, the dev just needs to build the game as linux+windows and it works on both. In renpy, when you build your game, you are given a list of what to build. This is the default options that are checked:

If you build with the default, you will get 2 zip files output. One that works on Windows ##AND## Linux, and one that works on Mac. NO EXTRA WORK REQUIRED.

To ##NOT## make a linux version, you have to UNCHECK the PC option, and then check the Linux option. So it is actually MORE WORK to avoid Windows (2 clicks more, not much, but still more work).

The PC version is ONE FILE that works on either Linux or Windows, so it is not like it makes 2 versions that require more uploading, etc.

The only reason I can see for a dev doing this is either lack of knowledge (they have zero clue about what they are doing), or they are just being spiteful against users of a specific OS for who knows what reason. But yes there ARE some devs that do this. The dev just REFUSES to make a Windows build. They think Windows is evil and anyone who uses it is evil too because they are supporting Satan in his quest to ruin humanity. /shrug

People really are this upset that the dev decided to not do a pc port that's just hilarious to me. Just throwing my two cents in that the android port doesn't install at all dunno why though.

Your lack of literacy and reading comprehension is hilarious to me. People are not upset that he didnt doa PC port.

People are upset that
- THE PC PORT THAT RENPY AUTOMATICALLY MAKES
- The PC port that always has the exact same compatability as the linux port

was deleted out of maliciousness instead of just being left alone. They are upset the dev is purely being a stuck up ass on this issue. They are upset the dev put in an active effort to break something that would have worked if left alone.

So pressed over this lmao dev didn't make a pc port of the game waaaaaaaah why you no make pc port

The reason why Lord Voldy refused to make a PC port was he believes this theory in which he views Microsoft as the "big bad" because they would "steal all the data from users like him".

he didnt refuse to make a Windows port. The linux 'port' and the windows 'port' is the EXACT SAME code.

There is no porting between the two. He put in active effort to disable the windows compatibility that would have worked fine if left alone

And I just taught him how to make it impossible for Windows users to access the files of any new version. :D

Thats not a thing. rpa files are just archives. they're not security of even the lowest level. Its no different than a JAR file for java programs. all you do is open it.

That aside whats the point? You dont NEED to access the files to load the "linux build" of the game in windows since ITS THE EXACT SAME BUILD. All you need is the windows launcher files. Drop those into the linux build of the game and you dont need to edit any of the files already there.

I was talking about a higher level, outside of any game files. Let me give you an example with another smaller game: Good luck with accessing the game in your Windows when it's packed like that. :D
And even if you manage to get the game, I still have other tools written by a friend of mine that can't be found on any linux repository which will make things for windows users even harder.

Did you link the wrong file? that had zero security at all. It was zipped inside a zip inside a zip which was inconvenient but i just 'extract here' 3 times and was at the game.

So this was effectively just 'normally zipped' and again no harder to access than just opening the zip. Im using nothing other than a normal 7zip install to open the archives and not any type of special softwaare
