Having to comment sucks, also I fail to see how it filters bad actors or bots, if anything it encourages more useless spam (like this post). Last time sinners' section was request based, and after a few days admins reversed that iirc. Why can't we use that again and admins can just deny brand new accounts. Anyways more "meaningful" replies incoming.
If I had to guess, probably to show a little more effort then "Oh we give it to everyone who just asks." If I'm wrong about this, happy to be proven wrong, cause I know nothing.

They can be 'meaningful' without meaning anything

I mean it's better than idk a paywall (im not from 1st world so i probably would never be able to afford it), but yeah it sucks :/

If this was the case, then why not 25 comments, or even just 15 comments? I'm not a chatty person, so felling forced into this. Not my fav....

I can see how a lot of people see this as I rather high bar to get over, however to me it is a fair trade. I've been here since almost day one and I don't make the cut, however I'm more active on Discord server than the site itself. It's an unfortunate measure that I very much understand the need for however. I don't support the site financially and just glad it's not a situation where a paywall kind of thing was for some reason required.

Also this will be my 35th post so off I go 😁😁

If I had to guess again, 35 is a large enough size variation that a bot wouldn't be able to churn out replies without something tripping them up.

yea, this kinda sucks for us who prefer to lurk.
The post limit is fine, but it is SO HARD to make up the activity time, especially with no clear path to make it up. I have been a member since 2022, and like you I lurk, grab the games I come here for and go on my merry way. Despite checking DAILY, or at least semi regularly for new updates, I was only at like 5hrs of activity in 2 years at the time of these requirements. However if it keeps the pixel police at bay, I'll do what I gotta do.

Yeah, I'm in the same boat. Member for almost 2 years, less than 5 hours active time and this is my first comment. Guess I got to start posting comments that I don't really feel like adds to the conversation.

I think that although I may be wrong, all the change started because of the complaints of people without open mind, and that forced Kavinsky (Crowley) to modify the rules in this forum, unfortunate but true.

I think this is difficult to assume even for Kavinsky, but he takes care of his page, proof of this can be seen in the time invested in this forum as well as some of us barely reach more than 10 hours during 2 years, kavinsky has more than 91 days.

most likely this choice was made because it seems to work
there are some sites with, lets say riskier subjects that have even higher standards for access (if not just pay-walling)
ATF even has tiers for their particulars sins, and they seem to not have died yet (altough some countries ban them from time to time)

this most likely will cause an influx of "irrelevant" threads (as the one i put up on Intro, that got 1k replies in less than a day)
but whenever folks request access they can just do a cursory check to make sure its not bots (or notorious bad actors)

just encourages spam smh, seems the replies you've made that are now hidden also don't count

Same story here, even joined in 2022 and have been lurking ever since. The new post requirement is achievable but takes a surprising amount of effort, which is where im stuck since i luckily had enough site time.
