Overview:
The game is set in a world where fantasy races exist, but in separate dimensions. Through the development of Goblin technology, these dimensions were able to be bridged, and the World's Crossing Academies were created.

We've all dreamed of living on another world at some point. In this world, it is possible. Those who are interested in living amongst another species can go through schooling at the World's Crossing Academy to learn that culture. Schooling begins at the Academy branch on your homeworld. Then you'll move to the Nexus Academy between worlds. Finally, you'll attend finishing school on the world you chose. Sounds pretty epic, right?

A Little Something For Everyone
For World's Crossing, we wanted a very diverse cast of characters. In reality, many different body and personality styles exist, and the inclusion of fantasy races allows us to take that to the extreme. People have different tastes, and we wanted to cover as many of those as we could. Perhaps you're intrigued by the hulking, muscle-bound Goliath? Or the tiny, mischievous Pixie? Maybe the elusive Fire Genasi catches your attention? Perhaps you fancy a fellow martial artist who could teach you a thing or two about fighting? Or maybe you're interested in fantasy races that aren't traditionally considered attractive, such as Goblins?
We wanted a vast array of options and aesthetics, but we also wanted each of these characters to be more than hollow shells that are nice to look at. Each of these characters will have a deep, lovingly crafted story of their own. We're hoping that each route you choose will have hours worth of content you'll be thinking about even when you're not playing the game.

The Element of Danger
No story is complete without a source of conflict. In World's Crossing Academy, our main character is plagued by a stalker. Cecilia wants you all to herself, and if you're not careful with how often you interact with the other girls, you could be putting them or yourself in serious danger. Though broken, Cecilia is cunning and intelligent, and is more than capable of putting other girls in the Infirmary. Time in the Infirmary means time you can't interact with them or complete their quests, so be careful.

1289745_Flashback_48_result.jpg
Real Consequences
Often, your choices can lead to undesirable things happening. We felt this was a realistic approach to take, and it offered the game some tension. However, we also felt that including mechanics that lead to a Game Over would leave a sour taste in players' mouths, so we explored and settled on the idea that every event in the game serves to unlock something, or leads to something else. Who knows? Spending time in the Infirmary yourself may allow you to meet a character you otherwise wouldn't...

v1.5.0.0
  • Main Story Content Update
  • River scene count increased to 3 (2 H-scenes)
  • Druthari scene count increased to 7 (1 soft H-scene)
  • Cecilia scene count increased to 1
  • Added DLC Compatibility hooks for Saffryn
  • Added Season 2 Episode 5, (Part 2 of 2) to Main Story
  • Added conditional code to Wither’s story
  • Added conditional code to Druthari’s story
  • Shored up text boxes in the phone system so now they’re easier to look at (though we’re still trying to solve the overhang issue)
  • Changed the lyrics of Chiara’s song in Season 1 Episode 5 to match a new recorded version
2 points of caution. 1, this update is SHORT compared to the last one. We spent a lot more time on side scenes, making sure you had at least one scene to play during every Free Time instance, and we’re gonna keep up with that tradition in the next episode. 2, I hit the 4GB limit on Itch.io, so I had to ask Estrada to compress the PC and Mac versions a little bit to make them fit. I’m going to attempt to learn Ren’py’s built-in Itch.io updater to bypass this in the next update. I have no idea how this will affect the quality of the images and videos. So if it’s bad, we’ll fix it next update.
v1.4.5.0 -
  • Blossom's total scene count raised to 3
  • Gillie's total scene count raised to 5
  • Jade's total scene count raised to 5 (includes H-scene)
  • Princess Tilai's total scene count raised to 5 (includes H-scene)
  • Fantasies Collection Add-on updated with new H-scenes
  • Various typo fixes
  • Massive shortening of disclaimer when starting a new game
  • Slight edits to a few scenes in Season 1
  • DLC compatibility framework adjustments

v1.4.0.3
N/A

v1.4.0.2 -
  • Implemented automatic difficulty scaler for Trial of Selection to make it easier on each death
  • Implemented DLC Framework for self-contained updates
  • Added a main story progress restriction to Wither's 5th scene, as players were able to play it too early, causing continuity issues
  • Various small adjustments

v1.4.0.1 -
1.4.0.1 adds a whole new Main Story episode. Season 2 Episode 4, the full episode, all in one update. This is a really weird episode, and we get to explore a bit of Aurum's past and what made him who he is today. Should hopefully help explain why he made so many judgement errors in the first season. There are a lot of things he's doing wrong, and this episode acknowledges that and the fact that he has lessons to learn if he's not going to repeat his mistakes.
v1.3.5.4 -
  • First, we've been asked to provide a way to turn off or soften the jumpscares in the game. That option has been added. You can now go into the main menu and turn the jumpscares off (though you'll have to close and reopen the game if you do that for it to actually work).
  • Second, I shored up the intro a bit, and realized that the last couple of builds were completely skipping my introduction. That's been added back in. I also removed a lot of the early perving, as I wrote that in based on assumptions I had 4 years ago about the AVN genre, its players, and what they wanted. I felt it was taking away from the story.
  • Third, there were some typos and wrong speaker tags that were fixed.
  • Lastly, I cleaned up a bit of the bitterness and negativity surrounding Ms. Clements and Aurum's thoughts about her. I feel like things make a lot more sense now. Season 1 Episodes 1 through 3 contain some dialogue polishing.

v1.3.5.1

v1.3.0.4
Player Experience: Pressing the Start button to begin a new game starts the game at Season 2.

v1.3.0.3

Season 2 – v0.2.3.1

Excited to get this update out, and you may notice a fancy “.1” on the end instead of the 0.2.3.0 that the Supporters got. Well, thanks to their feedback, a couple of changes were made.

A couple of typos were corrected
Blossom’s unlock tag was placed too late to be able to play her second scene, as that scene was only available during Lunchtime. Her unlock tag was moved to the beginning of S2E2 so that way both of her scenes can be played
Debug Menu was accidentally left on, and it’s now turned off
New Season 1 Playthrough was accidentally left on, and it’s now turned off

Season 2 - v0.2.2.2

Bugfix

Season 2 - v0.2.1.02

Main Story: Filled in the video call in S2E1
Main Story: the conclusion of the dressing room scene in S2E2
Main Story: Evening texts with another surprise video call in S2E2
Main Story: A brand new scene for Sunday Night in S2E2
Main Story: A new Monday Morning Free Time segment in S2E2, signifying the end of story content for this build
Side Story: Rukah Scene A
Side Story: Galka Scene A
Side Story: Mouse Scene A (with special shoutout to a fellow AVN creator!)
Side Story: Jade Scene A
Side Story: Wither Scene A
Side Story: Nook Scene A

v0.1.5.5

Finish up Sunday (following Cliffhanger) + 3 in-game days of content
~3250 Lines of Code (Story)
Brand New Texting System with 8 New Conversations
~700 New Images
Harpy Scene/Meeting is now Optional and Avoidable
Disclaimer/Warning in the Beginning about Cecilia
First ever official Android version, downloadable directly from Itch!

v0.1.5 Hotfix

FIXED A GALLERY BUG THAT CAUSED THE GAME NOT TO START

v0.1.5

Gotten rid of Mega
Introduced a new gallery
Implemented gallery fixes
Disabled debug menu (oops)
Over 1000 new stills
176 video animations
5804 lines of code
4 new H scenes
Introduced Saarya, Wither, Galka, Druthari, and Serafina
Set groundwork for new quest system and new feature that I'm hoping to implement next build
Took out H-scene warnings because they spoiled the game for a lot of people
Most importantly: MORE GOBLIN CONTENT

v0.1.4.5

This build was meant to be more of a Quality of Life build. I took a lot of the feedback y'all gave me and applied it to make the game experience smoother. So, thanks to you, we now have:

Auto-Forward on Black Screens (no more clicking through black screens)
Chapter Begin, Chapter End, and Sleep jingles
Vastly reduced file size due to image and audio compression and unnecessary file removal
Skippable H-Scenes
A working H-Scene Gallery that includes all but the most recent H-Scene

But I felt people wouldn't be real happy with a new release that was ONLY Quality of Life changes. With a new release, players want more content. So I set about making more for y'all and delaying the push of the build so there would at least be another half an hour of gameplay included. This new build has:

1730 new lines of code
Approx. 350 new images
Visual hints at 3 new girls
Story hints at 3 more new girls
A much-requested dive into Cecilia's past and backstory

And let's not forget the most important thing for most of y'all:

1 new H-Scene with 21 video loops

v0.1.4s

Hello again and thanks for your patience! One of the biggest pieces of feedback I've been getting is:

OMG DOES THIS DEV KNOW THAT COMPRESSION EXISTS.

And the answer to that was... no. No, I did not lol I am BRAND fuggin new to game development. But ask, and you shall receive! Nearly every .png file (formerly 2 to 4mb apiece) has been converted to .webp and then renamed into .png so I don't have to change the code. This shaved nearly 3gb off of the final file size.

Later on, I'll see about possibly compressing the audio as the game grows. For now, this should be good.

I'm still dumbfounded by the amount of attention this game is getting. Thank you all. You're inspiring me to take this, which was just kind of a little tech demo/ Proof of Concept project seriously.

v0.1.4

Ch 1-4 Released
Attention To Detail
World's Crossing is, at its core, an adult game. So of course, we wanted to emphasize the quality of our H-scenes by using a mixture of high-resolution stills and video loops. The characters are created with the best textures available. We wanted skin that looks like skin. Eyes that really feel like they're looking into yours. The animations are synced and modified in a way that makes the movements seem more natural.

Story Quality
The story writing is handled by me, VictorSeven. I'm a published fantasy author under the pen name Miles Tigard and author of fantasy series with 20 years of fantasy writing experience. Most adult games these days focus almost exclusively on the adult content and, while it makes sense to do so given the type of game it is, we find that most adult games really skimp on story quality. Many of these games offer filler scenes that only serve as cheap excuses to get to the next H-scene. We felt that having a published fantasy author writing the story would give it an edge over the rest of the adult games out there, and provide a deeply satisfying experience on both a physical and emotional level. We want World's Crossing Academy to be MORE than just a cheap fap fest. We want you, the player, to be emotionally connected to our characters and invested in their stories. Higher quality means less frequent updates, as I do have a series of my own that I am constantly working on, but you can expect the depth and quality of the story to be far beyond what you're used to in an adult visual novel. And who knows? With the right funding, I may be able to spend more time on World's Crossing!

The Beginning of a Journey
Obviously, we have some very lofty goals for World's Crossing Academy. There are four main story arcs planned for the main character: the Janitor arc, the Security arc, the Counselor arc, and the Ambassador arc. Currently, we have no plans to "finish" the game. That means we want to keep adding more and more content, characters, scenes, and locations for as long as we have support. So we at Team EmberWings are eternally grateful for anyone who starts out on this journey with us.

Head on over to the to support the project directly, get new builds before the public, request special pinups of your favorite girls, and choose which girls get their stories developed first!
Hop in the to chat with me about the game, report bugs, talk about the girls, and make recommendations!

Thank you, and see you at the Academy!

yea guess no one updated it.

Updated to the latest version enjoy all.

Had a nice time with this one, renders look a little dated but the writing saves the day with likeable characters. Strange but gladly surprise to have a decent and well written mc, story is interesting and enjoyable. My condolences to the Dev, I hope he takes his time and heal, good luck.

Hey many thanks to you. I'm using Ai Shoujo and the first week of the game was a huge learning experience as I figured out my lighting and scene settings. I still have little hiccups with Bloom and Ambient Occlusion here and there, but the "dated" look should get a lot better starting with the second week of content.

Yeah I've seen many struggle with bloom but don't worry, as long as the writing holds up your VN can only get better, take care.

Progress Report: What Support Does for a Game

Hey all!

Right, so I have a bit of an irking confession to make. I have been stuck on the same goddamn scene for two whole weeks. And it's not for lack of trying; the age-old writer's cycle of write, delete, write, delete, write, delete... I just kept writing myself into a corner. I did come to a solution, but it's not... as realistic as it could be. Then again, one could argue that this is a game, and a story, and a certain suspension of disbelief is required.

Here's where the support you all have given comes into play. Because this game is now at the point where it's paying my rent monthly, I have some freedom. I took extra days off this week and was able to power through this scene and get the difficult part done. I've also been able to commission two people with some of the money, one as a consultant to help me brainstorm and bounce ideas around to shatter the writer's block, which works WONDERS, let me tell you (there are some AMAZING future ideas planned now, and some of them are HILARIOUS). The other one is Rimulex, the guy who built the original framework for the game. He's gonna help me get the Character Book working correctly, and perhaps assist with some ideas for the side characters. I may even have him help with other features you request later on down the line.

We're getting to the part of the story where we're about to discover the gimmick that makes the optional content accessible. That framework also has to be built to set up for how it's going to be used in Story Arc 2 (Security) and onward. So unfortunately it's more than just "write story 4head" lol

1659680537409.png

So, while there hasn't been a TON of progress on the actual writing of the scenes, there has been a LOT of behind-the-scenes development of both the systems and the world. These foundations are going to set up for some amazing experiences for everyone, and faster delivery of new content.

This, in turn, paves the way for me to have TONS of new characters for you to interact with, while also developing the classic characters you've come to know and love. The goal is to have mountains of good content that give you hours of playtime in the story quality that you've come to know and love. We're still kind of nailing down the flow and everything, but once this gets going, content delivery should ramp up a bit. No more 4 month waits for new in-game days. And definitely no more 8 month waits.

1659680560946.png

All the support has been enormous throughout the months of June and July. The Patreon income has DOUBLED from what it was in November, and I'll take that as a huge complement. I've been taking a lot of the time recently to design and deliver on our T5 Creator patrons' creations, and they've been coming up with some AMAZING monster girls for you all to interact with. There are a lot of story ideas being tossed around right now, and there's some epic stuff being written. Not to mention some of these designs are absolute fire. I will be doing reveal posts on each of them at some point to introduce you to these character concepts. Just... good lord, you have NO idea what these people have in store for you. Good god. I can't wait to show you.

1659680575173.png

The current plan is to get Thursday and Friday completely finished and ship it as 0.1.5.8. Then, when Saturday and Sunday are finished, I'll ship that as 0.1.6 and the completion of Chapter 6 and the first story arc. The first update beyond this would be 0.2, as we're beginning the second story arc. 0.2.1 would be Second Arc, completed Chapter 1, etc.

Patrons have an amazing Patron-only content package coming soon, most likely week-by-week, with T5 Patrons receiving special uncensored versions. I'm not obscuring it real well, I realize, but the nature of the package is still a secret at least, and the Patrons, I think, will be VERY happy with what I'm delivering.

It'll take a lot more Patreon support to make everything I want for this game happen, but thanks to y'all, we are getting there. Together, you can finally make Wither happy!

T5 Creation: Phoebe, the Phoenix

Hi all! I promised more sneak previews of our T5 Creator girls, so here we are! Today's lovely specimen is Phoebe, a Phoenix girl, created by T5 Patron KnuckleDragger.

1660436120920.png

An accomplished greatsword fighter and fire mage, Phoebe is a terrifying combatant with plenty of experience behind her. However, upon completing her studies and taking residence in our world, she fell in love with the southern way of life. Sweetness, hospitality, and good-natured care for one's neighbors won her over.

1660436138485.png

1660436147147.png

As far as character design goes, if thick thighs could save lives, Phoebe would be a miracle worker. She's also the first character we've given metallic-looking hair, adding to the texture and shine until it shone in the scene lighting. We're still discussing her story, but the current direction we're thinking of is revealing her as a professor at the Academy, brought to WJC, since we haven't shown any of the professors or instructors in the game yet.

1660436161411.png

We've gotten a lot of positive feedback about her design, and we hope to include her in the game soon. It'll take some time to figure out a good place in the story to insert her, but we're confident we can find a good spot.

1660436173529.png

Until next time!

ohhh she is cute.

Progress Report: Collaborators

Hello all!

This past week has been super exciting. Thursday is completely written, and I'm in the process of shooting and scoring the scenes. I just purchased 2 new music packs of the same style as what's already in the game, so you'll have more music fairly soon as well.

1660901859956.png

In this next build, I've experimented with a very choice-oriented, almost dungeon-crawl style scene where each room you enter should change its dialogue based on the rooms you've already been in. It was hell to code, and I may not have even done it right or in the most "clean" of ways. But I'm trying it, and I hope you all find it more interactive than the largely kinetic nature of the rest of the story. Now, this IS a kinetic novel at heart, not a dating sim or even a true Visual Novel, as the choices are few and far between. But that's where the next part comes in.

1660901880493.png

Most of the work that's been done so far is on the optional content system I'm planning on introducing either with this next update or the one after that finishes out the Janitor Arc. I've been able to bring back Rimulex, who is now working on the gallery and optional content system. I've also brought on two consultants, RyuKaiser and Necromedes, for assistance in writing some of these optional character stories. Necromedes is the lead dev of Darksun Studios, responsible for and planning a new project called . You can check those projects out by clicking the linked text above. I've also brought in someone to help me shore up Aoibheann's dialogue and make it more accurate to true Irish speech.

Because of these amazing collaborators, some of the unreleased characters have gotten some pretty huge redesigns, chief of which being Senia, the Kneecapper Goblin, and Mayyah, the Naiad. I'm also experimenting with more outfits for the characters, so you may see some of them in a way you've never seen them before.

1660901904570.png

But don't worry. These alternate outfits aren't just for the fun of it. There will be story reasons for all the new stuff. Story is first priority, always. Anyways, I appreciate your patience with me, as there's a lot of behind-the-scenes work going on while I'm also trying to write, shoot, and score the rest of the week.

1660901921963.png

Thank you all for your support! Back to work for me!

Progress Report: The CHUNKIEST Two Days So Far

Hello, All!

Thanks for your patience; I really need to make a schedule for these Progress Report thingies. Anyways, onto what you're here for. WHEN NEXT UPDATE?!

Well, lately my focus has been demanded for my cousin's affairs and work. For those of you who are unaware, my cousin Phil committed suicide in June. Things... haven't been the same. But the show must go on, and the world doesn't stop turning. In addition, there have been issues with people unable to do their damn jobs at work, so I've been covering a lot of extra time. And seeing as how I currently make more at my job than on this game, work comes first.

DESPITE THAT... I have numbers for you.

1661965599218.png
THURSDAY:

  • Scripting/Writing: 100%
  • Shooting: 70%
  • Scoring/Bugtesting: 40%
FRIDAY:

  • Scripting/Writing: 80%
  • Shooting: 0%
  • Scoring/Bugtesting: 0%
So as you can see, Thursday is nearly finished. Shooting takes the longest, as that's where I'm posing and taking the shots that will end up in the game. I was having issues shooting a scene in the security office because there are SO MANY OBJECTS ON THAT MAP that it maxes out my memory and I have to force close the program. I figured out how to do UI screenshots with no UI to bypass the rendering process, but the files were about 2.5x the size of the rendered screenshots, which makes me wonder... should I be using UI screenshots instead?

Anyways. Thursday is almost finished. I'm midway through shooting the second to last scene, and the last scene will be super easy to shoot.

1661965635451.png

As far as Friday, I only have 2 scenes to write, though one is HUGE. There is so much story and content packed into these two days specifically that I feel like Saturday and Sunday are gonna struggle to hold a candle to this update. Then again, I hope to introduce the Free Time system on Saturday, if my coder can get the book working properly. If not, we'll be using a menu as a placeholder. Either way, you'll have some optional content to customize your playthrough then.

1661965657832.png

As far as my own health goes, it's been rough until recently. Ever since Phil passed, I haven't been sleeping more than 2 hours at a time. Perpetually exhausted, and even nodding off at work at times, it's been difficult to want to do ANYTHING. But I may have found a way to combat this. I'm not someone who likes to wallow in the negative and use it as a shield. I'm a problem solver, and it's been a PROBLEM. So I started taking Vitamin D, Magnesium, and Zinc daily, and they have made a WORLD of difference. I'm less than a week in on these things, and I'm actually sleeping well. I've got my humor back. I've got some energy. And most importantly, I've started researching nootropics, having tried Adderall in the past, and came across Noopept, which I am using while writing, to pretty good effect. I can tell there's a difference in the level of focus, though it's not as extreme as Adderall was. Be that as it may, my productivity is definitely increasing.

My point is, I've taken a focus to my deteriorating health, and feeling better has led to me cranking out 2 full scenes in the past week. Most of the delay in getting new content for y'all is me booting up the computer, opening Atom, and just... staring at it. Unable to create. And this could go on for a week, or two, hoping for a day when I could sit down and actually write something But with the new supplement regimen, I seem to have dulled the defensive numbness and am able to push through the barriers and get words on the screen every single day. It's not my best work, but I still think it's good enough that y'all will be happy with it. I'm finding solutions and getting back on the train, despite how often life tries to Sparta kick me off lol. I'm in love with this world and these characters, and I have so much waiting to get written for you all... it just takes a while. So thank you for your patience. Eventually we'll get this nailed down and have some sort of consistency.

1661965678568.png

Also, I have nearly completed my SubscribeStar page. I'll be sure to make a post and add the link for those of you who want to support the game, but detest or can't use Patreon.

That's all for now! I'm excited to see how quickly I can get these two days done and ship them to y'all!

Progress Report: The Hardest Part of Creating AVNs (For Me)

What a week. I've finally gotten through the TWO scenes that were giving me the most grief.

Usually, shooting scenes is relatively easy. I load up a scene I've already constructed, add the characters I need, and get to work. But for this coming Thursday, I had to construct 5 new locales from scratch. 3 were almost identical, so they were a breeze, but for the other two, I had to dig through StudioNEO's cache of maps (WHICH HAS NO SEARCH FUNCTION, BY THE BY) and suffer analysis paralysis over which ones to use lol.

Anyways, I've gotten a ton of work done this week. I have exactly one scene left to finish shooting for Thursday. I did most of the bugtesting for Thursday as well (everything but that scene I have yet to shoot). After that, all I have to do is add music and Thursday is done.

Speaking of music, I've also started organizing and converting a couple of new music packs I bought, and my god, y'all. These tracks are so goddamn good.

Compared to Thursday, Friday will be a breeze. I'm still writing the second to last scene, but it's all planned out so far. This current scene I'm writing will likely be a pain to shoot as well, but I don't think I have ANY scenes on Friday that take place in locales I haven't already created.

Lastly, I've started Rimulex on the system that will enable the optional content. Starting in the Security Arc, you'll have several opportunities per day to take a break from the main story and go spend time with one of the girls, and I'm thinking unlimited time in the evening (that way you're not missing optional content simply because there are no more playable days in the game). It shouldn't take us too long to put this together, and unlike the Gallery system, you're only gonna see buttons for girls that actually have written, unlockable content. No placeholders that aren't unlockable. I know that confused a lot of people in the gallery, so sorry for that.

Anyways, the long and the short of it is, all I have to do for Thursday is shoot the Evening scene, and then add music to all the scenes and bugtest. On Friday, I have the scene planning for the big scene mostly done and have written about 1/5th of it. Until then, enjoy this shot of Nook that I'm sure you all remember.
